I have read that eating insects is very healthy and these little guys can help prevent cancer. Although not in the west, but in many parts of the world, insects are a staple.
So, as an experiment, I though I might purchase some from a company specializing in this food type, despite the yuck factor. I purchased some from a UK company, "EatGrub".
Although the product was very expensive, they only gave me small quantities of the product. And they processed the shit out of the little critters, adding sugar and God knows what else to the product. It tasted just like junk food, and I am sure it had little or no nutritional value.
