Dart thinks you need to draft size to get size. They just got their "Tom Wilson". They didn't draft him. They did draft Biggs and Gauthier though and passed up on some good skilled players.

Leafs get much needed size. This should make Darts happy.
Not to worry. The Leafs have plenty of small players for those members who like them small.

"The Maple Leafs drafted 6 players yesterday.
Not one of them is 6' or taller."

The reason why you draft skill over size is that teams will pay premium price for skilled players. Players with size can be acquired for cheap. If a team offer sheets Marner, they better be ready to give up 4 first round picks. If a team offer sheets someone like Garret Wilson, well then good bye and the Leafs get no compensation. This is the Leafs drafting strategy.

The point that a couple of members seem to be missing is that big players can also be skilled. It is not either or. Auston Mathews is 6'3", Connor McDavid is 6'1", Dustin Byfugien is 6'5" and the list goes on and on.

However, one member in particular thinks only small players have skills.

Is Ken Holland the best GM in the NHL? He just pulled a "Bargnani" on the Calgary Flames.

not always sure...

I dunno.
Milan Lucic seems to come with fringe benefits.

He signs with Edmonton - the team immediately announces a new arena.

Coincidence? Only the shadow knows....

Remember James Neal was a liability with Calgary last year - he looked slow and they were a worse team with him on the ice; so much so that he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs.
$5.75 million per season is a lot to pay someone to watch from the press box.

Flames feel they have other people who can score goals, they wanted Lucic for some toughness after being bounced in the first round last season.

Let's admit it was a trade of two really bad contracts, and Edmonton maintained a portion of Lucic's salary.
