Looking forward to it. I sure hope they don't give it the Discovery treatment and stay true to Star Trek.

Discovery is completely unwatchable.
yes, I can really do without the Discovery gender BS being shoved in my face in every episode.

This looks good. Can't wait. I hope its not a Toronto production but I might be wrong.

Sir Patrick is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet and I have had the pleasure on several occasions.

ST Picard looks like it is going to be awesome, nice to see former cast members brought back... Is it too much to hope for Dr Crusher? Wesley less so unless Picard gets to say "Shut up Wesley!"

I don't have a problem with gay characters as long as they bring something to the table.

I wonder how the LGBT community is going to react to Charles Baudelaire Jr? E6 of Jett is the most intense of the series, CB Jr (Giancarlo Esposito's son) goes full Silence of the Lambs mode. The problem with Discovery is Engineer Stamets, played by Anthony Rapp, is so fucking dull! He takes the momentum to a screeching halt everytime he appears, he's far worse than Will Wheaton. As for Rapp's personal life...it's time to nut up or shuddup, shuttin up.

Charles Boudelaire Jr is played by Gentry White, psychotic and irredeemable gay character. He's terrifying!

This looks insane. 7of9 looks great still and it’s awesome her character has evolved. Borg too with Hugh, unreal. And of course the stinger character reveal at the end. make it so!

Discovery was a disappointment without Jason Isaacs in S2, it was almost unwatchable.

This time Jonathan Frakes is the showrunner, Amazon Prime is producing it. Will Space carry it in Canada, I already have an Amazon account.

Star Trek: Picard looks like a major hit.

St:Discovery had a major problem. They killed of Jason Isaacs who has Shat level charisma. It left a major void which sapped the energy out of S2, the ending came out of left field.

No problem with the latest franchise, as Isaacs is charismatic, Sir Patrick Stewart is magisterial. I had my reservations thinking he was too old to carry a major franchise, he may be pushing 80 but he's got more than a trace of Keith Richards in him. Picard starts off looking comfortable but restless at his La Barre winery. A stranger arrives named Dahj who may or may not be Data's daughter. Isa Briones, who plays Dahj, could have an illustrious career in front of her. She certainly isn't dominated by Stewart in their scenes together. The episode ends with a major cliffhanger.

What makes this series superior to Discovery - Johnathan Frakes is in control. He knows how to plot a Star Trek series, there's just enough action to quicken the pace while the story develops. Akiva Goldman is also involved in the writing and directing, he wrote the scripts to Cinderella Man and A Beautiful Mind and created the sci-fi series Fringe, but I haven't seen that. The first episode met with resounding approval from Trekkies, it has an 8.6 audience score.

Akiva Goldman is also executive producer. With such a talented writer engaged, how could Stewart refuse.

Here
Watched it last night and I have to say I was a little underwhelmed. Not really sure what I was expecting but it just didn't grab me like some of the other franchises.

Hard to say Mr Deeds, E1 Remembrance was a prelude, they didn't go for The Big Bang like Discovery. Only four actors carried the first episode: Stewart, Briones, Brent Spinner and near the end our city's Alison Pill whom I suspect becomes the Science Officer. And you are in the minority, the episode got a 9 audience score. It could be that people are just happy that Sir Patrick is back, we'll see.

Akiva Goldman is listed as "creator", he got a screenplay Oscar for A Beautiful Mind, I'm willing to put my faith in him. The Director is Hanelle Culpepper, primarily known for Counterpart, Frakes directs E3 with 3 others to follow.

Let's see when a certain someone joins the cast.

it was a decent premier episode but it wasn't awesome in any way. I am and will always be a huge fan of TNG, and Patrick Stewart.

Of course no matter what I'll be watching the entire season.

Stewart was great in the episode, like how he always has been on ST.

Finally got caught up.

7 of 9 goes phasors akimbo, awesome! Jeri Ryan still has that glint in her eyes that was so central to Voyager, you can tell playing 7-9 isn't work for her.

Yes Sir Patrick Stewart has lost some of his timbre but he can still carry a scene better than anyone. I would rather watch him than the entire cast of Discovery without Jason Isaacs. It may have started slow but I'm putting my faith in Akiva Goldman, he layers his stories, it going to get intense by the finale. The series will depend on Sir Patrick keeping his health. Al Pacino is older than him and he has a new series called Hunters. I wish them both well.

Jeri Ryan is still a sex machine...she puts JLow and her Depends to shame.

As a huge Star Trek fan and someone who enjoyed Star Trek the next generation I have to say that this show is a complete disappointment.
He looks old, he sounds old and the story is predictable and boring.
This has got to be the worst Star Trek series ever.

I just watched E8, anyone that says it's boring hasn't seen it.

7 of fuckin 9 becomes Locutus II. We are Borg, resistance is futile.
