I wouldn't stretch that far and say she's hot. Even here in Toronto I've seen some Korean or Japanese women on the streets that are much better. That's my personal opinion.

Now onto what happened to her. That's horrible. In these rich countries freedom of speech is becoming non existent. It will only get worse as special interest groups in society keep muzzling people. I'm happy I don't have children so they wouldn't have to grow up in this messed up society.

How do current parents teach their children to be true to their values and stand up for them ? It's a very hard to impossible job here.

Back to this beauty queen. Even though she got slapped I respect she spoke her mind.

You ARE allowed to speak your mind IF you fall under a special group.

She was speaking her mind. Isn't there something called "Freedom of speech" in America? The way I see it and may be I'm wrong but if she happens to be Caucasian from a power house country doing the same things, they likely wouldn't make it an issue. If they did, the issue may get exploded into a big subject of "racism", considering hijab and black-on-black gun violence?

This sounds more and more complicated as I'm writing, I'd better go get myself another coffee lol.

The Hajib thing is ridiculous. Yes, she probably is ignorant about its meaning, but how is that an expellable offense?
As for the black on black violence statement, I have no idea if she's factual correct or not. Certainly there's a lot of it in certain hotspots (like Chicago).

Just my two cents. If she is in fact a Trump supporter that's her right. Again the left always gets worked up when someone doesn't support them. Under a democracy we all have a right to support who we wish.

Look at the Canadian context. Many people voted for Trudeau and he's proven to be an idiot and dangerous to national security (Chinese issue over Huawei) and the economy (almost didn't get NAFTA redone).

For the record. I voted for Trudeau because I was tired of Harper's team being so corrupt but I know I fucked up giving the vote to a dumb trust fund druggie like him. Life is all about learning from experiences.

But in closing let's respect our political leanings.

IT IS NOT A FREEDOM OF SPEECH ISSUE. Freedom of speech protects citizens from being censored by their GOVERNMENT. Beauty pageants, social media platforms, escort review boards, etc. can impose any restrictions they wish.

There is free speech to say whatever you like, However there are consequences for the things we say.
If I walk up to you and tell you that your wife or daughter is a slut I have every right to do that. However there will probably be consequences.
I think what some people are looking for is free speech without consequences.

In her email, Wiedmann released (fired) Bethel from her contract as a model for the agency. Wiedmann told Bethel that “the team has been talking about your racist political connections and we have decided to release you from your contract”.

What Nathan and Knuckle Ball say. If I'm the junior lawyer at a large law firm and I walk around saying publicly that the senior managing partner has a drinking problem and an ugly wife, he's going to infringe my right to free speech by firing my ass.

Celebrities - even minor ones - accept certain role modelling restrictions as the price of getting their contracts and depositing their paychecks. You don't like that, no one's forcing you to earn that big paycheck for that boss and you can go drive an Uber and say whatever you want.

Not at all like it. Nor have you told us enough to draw a parallel.

She was awarded her position, and held it at the pleasure of the judges. By the agreement she accepted when she entered, they could withdraw the title and her position at any time, at their sole decision. It's their commercial enterprise, and you agree to those terms, or you take your business elsewhere; they aren't negotiable.

If you think such contracts are improper or unfair, what are you proposing to correct them?

There's already a thread in Politics, which is the appropriate forum for discussions of @PoliticalKathy, Free speech, Religion and anti-religion, and most definitely for all things Trump. Shouldn't this one in the Lounge focus on the general loss to the world that stripping this beauty of the Miss Michigan title surely is?
