I wonder what the reported ridiculous demands were that the raps refused to accept.

With all the talk now after the FA majesty, I'm surprised Masai isn't getting more credit. Only time I've even heard his name mentioned by the talking heads was a rebuttal to commnet on the OKC disasters.
What I have read, heard, etc. none of which is verified, is that it had to do with Westbrook and OKC wanting to trade him. Westbrook for Siakim and a bunch of first round picks. Supposedly, Masai wasn't interested which, if true, I fully understand. Unless you hear it directly from Masai's lips, you really don't know the entire truth or story details!

Raptors did it as a team
Not a one man show . Clippers wont win
Championship. Kawhi will realize in time what Toronto did for his career. We thank him for his great work here .we are the north and we are the champions and we can do it again .

Did Kawhi ever release a "Thank You Toronto" message?
It's not in the "fun guy's" DNA to do something like that.
Not sure it is necessary, usually a thank you comes from a long term player who has been traded or retired. Kawhi was here 1 year, and he was shown tons of love by the Raptor fans from Toronto and coast to coast. He was awesome and brought the NBA championship to the city and country. He could have arrived here and sulked, but he didn't he busted his butt and the results were awesome. If you look at his performance after the playoffs, I believe it shows he never had any intention of staying here and Toronto was probably third or fourth on his list of places to play. He led the team to a championship and that maybe all the thanks he feels he needs to give.

Kawhi should thank the Raptors organization and the fans, the City of Toronto and Canada. He got a lot of support from coast-to-coast, he became the King of the North.

He knows many fans were devastated when he left, as much as I love the ride we had with Kawhi, he is showing that he is a very selfish athlete. It does not take much of an effort to at least thank the Raptors organization for all they did for him - Load Management.

I don't mean to pick on Kwahi. He did a lot for Toronto but Toronto did a lot for him as well.

Danny Green said thank you and he was here for only one year as well.

silk123, Darts: I really don't disagree, that with all the love he was shown here some kind of acknowledgement would have been a good thing and probably the proper thing to do. He may or may not do it later. He is definitely his own person. If he doesn't, that championship trophy still belongs to the Toronto Raptors and not Kawhi Leonard. I believe that the way he has left things has not endeared him to the Toronto Raptor fan base, whether he wants to fix that remains to be seen. Perhaps his vision is. " I got you a championship, be thankful!"

He may yet regret the move, don't think he could have received more love anywhere. It was one hell of a year and one I will probably remember for the rest of my life. So I thank him for that!

Pure selfish jerk by betraying the unconditional love of a great city and a greater country.
You sound like a bitter ex girlfriend when the guy never loved you in the first place but put up with you anyway. He didn't asked to be traded to the Raptors...but played his heart out. It could be for his personal gain to win but he was professional enough and not a whiny SOB about it.

It could be that...but let's face it...the fans only loved Kawhi because the Raptors were winning and they got the C....If that wasn't the case...the same fan base would come out with pitchforks and get pissed about taking on a one year rental player who can't deliver and Massai's head will be rolling...Have you seen Jurassic Park in round 1? It wasn't fully packed...it was only after they came back in game 4 of Sixers series that people started to flock to Jurassic Park...some fans don't even know most of the players in the roster...

There are fans and there are party animals! A lot of the people at Jurassic park were there for a good time and they really weren't true fans. My guess is there were a lot of fans sitting at home, sucking on a beer(s) in front of their big screens more so that the bunch of party goers at the park. Sure a large number of people ay the park were true fans but loads were there for the party. Personally I enjoyed the wins and suffered through the losses.

@KAWAILUVR: If the Warriors weren't healthy, who cares? bottom line "Toronto Raptors are 2019 NBA CHAMPIONS" No asterisks Enjoy it!

Guys, let's not beat this issue to death.

I only thought it would be a nice gesture for him to say "thank you Toronto". Let's move on.

I love Kawhi, he gave his all. As to the comment above, LBJ had to be a one man army in the 2015 Finals.

He may regret the error of his ways. Damon Staudemire and Tracy McGrady both said that they regretted leaving Toronto. McGrady even played for Canada during the Celebrity All Star game back in 2016.

Masai wasn't willing to sell the farm for Paul George, can't fault him for that. The Raptors will still be competitive and they did sign The Greek Freak's brother Kostas. They are of Nigerian descent, just like Masai.

Who knows the Paul George deal could be another Herschel Walker. For those of you who are too young....

I've never once heard either of these two guys say they regretted it. Especially McGrady. Only reason Damon regrets it is because he was a super star in Toronto, and pretty much became irrelevant not long after landing in Portland.
