Fat's personal turf where (strictly anecdotally) "nobody is going to give up their car". Apparently ignoring the rise of car-sharing and ride-sharing and the declines in vehicle sales and driver's licensing which show many already have. And then on to AC and home heating, where higher 'sin'-taxes on fossil fuels have already spurred consumers to demand much higher output efficiencies from machines burning less fuel.
He needs to listen to the choir: As the old song goes. "Always have, always will". People changing are all around. They see the world is changing, and they'll need different and better strategies to deal with that change.
