Truth is there is virtually nothing we can do about it. We're not going to give up our cars, our meat, our starbucks, and our plastic products. Enjoy it to the fullest.

Exactly, I have no intention of changing my lifestyle or habits. I’m going to enjoy the rest of my life to the fullest whether it’s climate friendly or not.

Biggest argument for a carbon tax.
The biggest arguement for a carbon tax is that since many wont give anything up, the more money UN nations make.

Get it? They know nobody is going to give up their car.

Just wondering, is your A/C on this summer? Was your heat on in the winter? Planning a vacation somewhere far? How you getting there?

I love how people preach to the choir.......

.
Talk about your wingnut conspiracy theories.
How the fuck would the UN end up with money from a Canadian carbon tax?

You didn't quote the rest of the whackadoodle nonsense, which jumped from that global non-sequitur about United Nations Organization to Fat's personal turf where (strictly anecdotally) "nobody is going to give up their car". Apparently ignoring the rise of car-sharing and ride-sharing and the declines in vehicle sales and driver's licensing which show many already have. And then on to AC and home heating, where higher 'sin'-taxes on fossil fuels have already spurred consumers to demand much higher output efficiencies from machines burning less fuel.

He needs to listen to the choir: As the old song goes. "Always have, always will". People changing are all around. They see the world is changing, and they'll need different and better strategies to deal with that change.

Of course money's in the thick of things; does he imagine we still have tails?

Which would have no impact on climate change. We're way beyond simple solutions. The problem is so big and so intractable, not even a brain surgeon can get his mind around it.

Seems like a poor argument for doing nothing.

The Nobel for economics was handed out to someone who showed that a carbon tax is the best way to fight climate change.
It might be too 'big and intractable' for you, but there are solutions.

Put that on your tombstone so your grandchildren can understand why they are living in hell on earth.

Good luck with that. You and the Nobel Laureate will need it in spades.

We are unwilling or incapable of doing what's required: stop having kids to reduce population, live in mud huts without electricity, grow our own food, stop eating meat, no more cars. These types of extreme life changes are only the beginnings of what could be considered anything resembling a solution. The developed and developing worlds exist based on activities that contribute to climate change. You can live in modernity or you can stop climate change, but you can't do both. All the lip service sounds great though, because it gives us the illusion that we're "doing something".

While you and others pretend to fight the good fight, the rest of us (the other 99% of the planet) will continue doing what we do to enjoy life.

They also gave one to Obama just for being black.

Everyone, even the Nobel committee are capable of biased mistakes for optics.

A greatly reduced population would be the best solution.

He'll on Earth??? The latter part of the 20th century and the 21st century have been, hands down, the best time to be alive in the history of the human race. Not even the Pax Romana comes close. God forbid a major war, this is bound to continue, climate going warmer or colder. We're not animals, we have an ability to rapidly adapt.

It has been, yes.
But what happens when crop failures increase?
