Probably why they went solo soon after. I was shocked when the pairing ended because it was such a good thing. Hebscher when he went his own way just wasn't the same. Quite bland actually.
Them two great together in the mid to late 80's. Back then there were only two Blue Jay games televised a week. Wednesday's and Sundays and TSN wasn't born yet so it was the premier highlight show. A must watch if you will. I From 85-90 I was age 11 to 16. I remember from about age 11-13 waiting until 11:30 with anticipation for start as that was kind of late for a kid my age. I loved intro so much as ending. The music....lol. You can here ending music from this clip starting at the 11:20 mark.

I had TSN from the start, the classy Jim Van Horne gave them the best possible start.

The Fan590, wanted to give Roberto McCown a golden parachute when Tim and Sid was about to make it's debut. He wanted to compete against them and lost, they're not renewing his contract.

thanks for the vid....times have certainly changed...it was never about Jim and Mark, or later Principe and Martin.....but with Tim and Sid it seems they try to make it about themselves, they are unwatchable, McCown and his guests?...completely watchable....well not anymore

Not sure what on earth your talking about. McCown is more a radio show and Tim and Sid are on TV. Long after Tim and Sid moved to T.V, the ratings for Prime Time were still huge. McCown just signed a new multi-year contract not long ago. Sportsnet just simply couldn't afford him due to his stock in the company and the direction the company wants to go so they bought out is contract.

I'm talking about the TV Ratings alone, McCown's radio show has always been of the highest quality. The problem for Bobcat, his ratings dropped off significantly once Tim and Sid came on air. McCown was scoring poorly, as a TV personality, among viewers under 40. So he lost his SN360 gig. Not sure if he had the option to continue Primetime as a radio show only.

And now for something completely different, Toronto Raptors with a Japanese opening.

They could have used any Japanese song. Song sounds good on it's own. Couldn't tie it to the visuals.

Again, all that is academic. His numbers were good enough that they asked him to come back and signed him to a multi-year contract. MANY YEARS after Tim and Sid came on the air. It was only about a year ago he resigned. This had nothing to do with his ratings and everything to do with sportsnet/590 ratings in general. They're doing a major shake up and the whole company is struggling.

So are you saying that by firing him, he no longer has stock in the company? Sportsnet took it back?

Sorry, not his stock in the company. Apparently it had something to with trying to hide is expense in the bottom line to look good to share holders or something. To be honest, it was a bit complicated for me as it was beyond my business knowledge. Some new guy took over the department and his sole purpose was to cut cost because they're not doing well..so you know how it goes. Usually the first to go are the people making the most. There's a lot of changes coming for the place.

Two other faces I haven't heard/seen on Fan590/Sportsnet TV in a while are Damien Cox, who used to co-host on McCown's show and Pat Tabler on the Blue Jay broadcasts.

Any one have any info if they too are casualties of a major shake up?

Major sports fan here. Damien Cox was absolutely terrible. Voice so bad. Tabler was so lazy and taking money for no effort at all.

Cox was let go/left a while ago. Tabler is sill on all the time so you must not watch Blue Jay games. Once in a while he's not on if Dan Shulman is calling the game.

Didn't watch too many Jays games during Stanley Cup and Raptors/NBA playoffs as the team wasn't doing much. Still not doing much winning, but now they are about the only games on.

Shulman has been calling the games I've seen.
