The Raptors are in tough tonight against Jimmy Sassicaia and the Heat. Miami can play Raptors type defense.

NBA players have an affinity for fine wine, Jimmy Butler is their top diplomat. Sassicaia is the Rolls Royce of Italian wines.

Kyle Lowry went 2-18 overall and 0-11 beyond the arc. That was the difference. And Nurse stuck with him even when he kept taking bad shots, something the Raps weren’t doing in his absence.
Yes or so it seems from the game stats. But they need to get him back into the team and that was a small price to be paid.

Also Butler was on fire in the OT. After starting that period with two straight 3's and nothing from the Raptors I stopped following it.

Another 10 gamer in the books and ended on a slight downer but good to see KLow back on the floor and it'll even be better once he remembers how he plays :sorry: 8-2 in this stretch after that stumble last night. Next 10 gamer is home oriented with another tough start with Rockets and Sixers, a couple of BtB's and ends just before the big XMas tilt with the Celts. 15-5 maps out to at least 55 wins which still, for most of us, would be a hell of a lot better than we thought. First quarter showed us we can still contend, bench is deeper than thought, norm still needs work, and d is still their "hat to hang onto" focus. Next 3 quarters will be about health, getting team results and playing like the defending NBA Champions!! Let's go raptors :bolt:

I was wondering if that was going to happen when he came back. I think FVV is going to give him a run for starting job. I mean he's been amazing. He would not only be the starter on many NBA teams, but even decent ones. We'll see after a few games how K-Low is when he gets back into the swing of things, but them two might be the new splash brothers. FVV may not start but might play the same amount of minutes.

That's what the man gets paid for.

I expect to see them on the court together a fair bit. And I think everyone knows that KLow has only one or two more years at a high level.

Despite the success, I think them being ranked 6-10 is fair. One of the advantages they have had so far is the quickly expanding role of some young players. The NBA scouting and analytics are huge and play a significant role in how teams play and especially defend. At this time of they year, the growth of many of the younger players leaves scouts with not a lot of information and as the season goes on, teams will be better able to adapt their defensive schemes as needed. On the plus side, P has become one of the unicorn type players as his offensive game is so diverse that there is no way to stop all of his options.

Let's give Nick Nurse a little credit. I was feeling there'd be drop with the return of both Lowry and Ibaka. No way was Lowry gonna come out on fire after the lay off. Doesn't change the fact that there's still 60 games left. Spread the minutes. We are being looked at as the San Antonio of the East. They made things work come playoff time and that's what we're hoping to do again this year. it'd be nice to secure the top 2 positioning, but not necessary for a team that's been great on the road for years now.

Houston loss was a bit of a learning experience. they did pretty good limiting Harden. Avgs 38 and kept him to 23. He's just an elite prolific scorer. Just like Miami a couple of role players lit us up after containing the stars. Interesting that Westbrook will keep heaving his bricks when other guys on the team are red hot. Westbrook is capeable of helping with rebounds, assists, steals, and is excellent on the drive, yet he will not hesitate to fling his 21% from 3. Houston could be so much more dangerous if he became more humble with his shooting ability. I guess that's always been the knock on him.

The Raptors defeated the mighty Lakers in LA without Lowry and Ibaka. To relegate key players like Hollis Jefferson and Terrence Davis responsible for that victory to minuscule minutes while long-armed defender Boucher did not even step on the court in the face of brick after brick by Lowry was a dereliction of coaching duty. And the message he sent those guys was horrendous: I don’t trust you even after your heroic performances. Shame.
I was a little disappointed about this two but you kind of knew this was going to happen when the raps got K-Low and Surge back. Hopefully going forward Nick figures out a way to keep everyone happy and spread the minutes out, but it's going to take some time. Just don't want to see those guys not get action again because now they'll become cold for not seeing the floor.

3 in a row. A little disheartening. the biggest loss was Van Vleet though. Can't help buy think he's become the most important cog in the wheel this year. Can't imagine a contusion on the knee will keep him out too long.
I also though we suffered a little with length and energy against Houston, Miami and Philly. I couldn't help but think that Boucher would have been usefull in a couple of those games.

And Boucher's rebounding as well.

Kawhi Leonard, aka the Klaw, though you broke hearts when you left :bolt: your 12 months here will ALWAYS be a benchmark and a moment in time that none of us will forget. Thanks for the memories, effort and single mindedness you brought to the Raps. We salute you ........ :applause::cheer2::canada::tea::first::peace:............

The return of The Fun Guy. It was appropriate that Kyle gave him his ring, he had a split second of elation then went back to his game face.

My fondest memory of last years playoffs came when the Raptors went 0 - 2 to the Bucks. Kawhi was interviewed after the second game, he was serene and confident, as if to say, "we're only getting started Babee!".

Fun Guy shares an attribute with Sergei Rachmaninov, both have/had spider fingers. Some people would say "whaaat" when I said that Kawhi is the Rachmaninov of the court.

Khufu, this team's philosophy for the last few years has been predicated from Defense first and your two mentions are the epitome of that philosophy. Most of you know how I feel about Gasol and McCaw gets the same respect from Coach. They play cuz they generate steals, blocks, deflections, screens and all the stuff that gets lost with TEAM. Yes, they don't necessarily create offence in isolation but they contribute. I'm sure Mccaw got a run last night just to see where he's at and he'll be slotted in appropriately. Let's go Raps!
