beat the Knicks, again! Had them down double figures and let them back in it. Siakim looking better and really produced in the 4th when it mattered. Spurs next, and Raps need to avenge that loss at home. Hope the boys remember that in your face slam from DeRozen and pay it back a few times over.

Rest in Peace Kobe. you could tell the players were deeply affected. It was shocking to hear. Poor family and Gianna was with him.

Got by the Spurs, should have been easy after the quick start, BUT.......
Siakim had an awesome first half and a decent all around game, nice to see him looking like the all star he is!
Atlanta tonight, hope the Raps don't take the Hawks lightly as they have their moments.

It's happened.

I haven't watched a Leafs game since early Dec, the Raptors I watch, at least in part, as often as I can. Question, when is Matt Thomas expected to come of the IL, he's supposed to be a downtown from Wawa specialist. The Raps have a legit shot at getting to the Final again, everyone must do their role.

McCaw will return as soon as they put his nose back in place. Hustle with a sprained ankle will be out 3 weeks minimum.

Raps beat the Cavs in what I feel was a difficult game to watch. Both team were awful. Raps had to the play their front line in order to secure the W. Detroit tonight, another weak team but the Raps may be a little tired after the Cavs game. That is two games in a row where there level of play has been just enough to beat a bad team.
Siakim will start in the all star game, KLo comes off the bench and will Nurse be there? Congrats to KLo sixth straight all star appearance. a new Raptor franchise record.

Shoot the 3 if you are open, whether you are good at it or not. And with that comes these awful misses. This current style in the NBA is not MCOT. It makes for difficult to watch games, as you said. One of the few teams with a great inside and outside balance is the Milwaukee Bucks. And they are a pleasure to watch.

Gasol out injured again. Unfortunately.
missed 3's or "clunks" as I call the ones that aren't air balls were a small part of the problem. Careless ball handling, bad passes, forced shots inside and outside, etc. was like watching 2 bad high school teams at times. It just seemed to me like the Raps played like they knew they were going to win and every time they went on a run they backed away and let the Cavs back in. Should have been a blow out with the starters on the bench for most of the 4th instead of busting their asses to eke out a win.
Gasol looked good when he returned from the ham string injury, hope they let it fully heal, allow him to rest make sure he is healthy and ready for a LONG playoff run! Ibaka playing well but he has miles on his body that may require some rest before playoff time.
I wonder if Leonard wished he had stayed here. Clippers don't look that good to me.

There were so many Raptors fans at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit last night it felt like a home game. Incredible. And the boys delivered a thumping beating to their old coach for their 10th straight victory. Wow. If you're Dwayne Casey, you must have a sickening feeling in your stomach to see the boys you tutored come to be champions. Would the Raptors have won the championship last year with Casey as head coach? Hard to say.
That game was never in doubt. Raps won it for Nurse and his assistants! I was disappointed when they fired Casey but Masai proved himself again. I don't think Nurse was the first choice but he has turned out to be the right choice.
Starting to think that Powell should get consideration as the most improved player. He is performing at high level and playing with confidence and swagger!

Congratulations to Nick Nurse and his assistants! Not sure what the formula was but you are right. With that win, Nick Nurse and his assistants will be coaching Team Giannis at the All Star game in Chicago in two weeks. Awesome, that.
With a couple of minutes left in the game KLo was busy congratulating all the coaches, handshake from Kyle and their faces were beaming, Magloire was ear to ear smiles. It really must be something they want to do as they all looked happy, proud and excited.

... Next stretch is a 10 in 17 days. While strength of opponents is favorable (76ers and Spurs tuffest) it'll be a grind especially since guys are just coming back. Hope they can start building some momentum....lets go Raptors!!!
well that was 26-14, and still not all were on the wagon again but........10-0 in this stretch heals all pain (cept for Norm who will never, ever, never play in Detroit again!!) and gets us heading into the stretch with some momentum. Again, we're still not at full roster, but as we saw here when they get back this team is a fucking machine. 36-14, second in the east and favorable schedule in Feb (8 home games!), AS break to rejuvenate and then march madness will be on us!!!! Still long ways to go so buckle in and enjoy the ride. ........ And my 1000th post to boot :bolt:

Congratulations to the Raptors. Their victory against the Bulls was their 11th straight, tying a club record. Norm Powell was out with a fracture to his left ring finger, joining Gasol and Hollis-Jefferson on the injury list. Unfaced, Davis stepped in with 31 points, his highest score to date, and Boucher contributed 15 points, both off the bench.

I didnt believe Masai when he said the Raptors will be fine after Kawhi left. But the Raptors record backs him totally. A fully healthy Raptors can retain their championship.
Pretty much my feelings too but I am not sure how much tweaking it will take to get them past the Bucks. IMO Bucks are currently the team to beat as long as they stay healthy. Davis has come a long way in a short time, he just keeps getting better. Boucher is decent, and continues to improve. Pacers should prove to be a tough opponent for the Raps and with the three injuries Raps will have their hands full.

I picked OG to win The Most Improved Player Award, his progression is taking longer than I though.

Let's dispel the nonsense concerning Masai going to the Knicks. Why would he want to work for Harold Ballard? Larry Tanenbaum took Masai leaving personally, he was not at the Ring ceremony. If Dolan wants to poach Masai, you can bet that he'll extract as much compensation for him as possible.

There are other intangibles, Morgan Stanley has done a 180 degree turnaround since 16.09.2008. None of the other NYC banks offered help when it faced the precipice of Lehmann Bros, TD did. Masai's Giants of Africa has prospered because he runs a Non-American club. We saw the number of Jurassic Parks that popped up throughout the world during the playoffs, he is a global ambassador. If he goes to the Knicks, he becomes just another cog in the Evil Empire.

OG Anunoby: 28 minutes, 1 shot, zero points. Terrence Davis was the one on the court during crunch time. OG may be playing himself out of the starting rotation if he doesnt man up soon. Calling Hollis-Jefferson? We shall see.
Neither OG or H-J have shown a lot offensively. Both can play D. OG can score but as to why he isn't shooting is a mystery. Davis just keeps looking like he belongs. The lack of scoring by OG and H-J show how much Powell is missed.
Pacers folded like a cheap tent in the 4th as the Raps did in the second Q. Raps showed a lot of grit pulling that one out.
Anyone see Masai making moves today?

Nope. There is something about these Raptors that several can step up in the clutch. KLo delivered a dagger before Obaka knocked out the Pacers yesterday. They just need to get healthy. A healthy Gasol will slow down Giannis Antentokounmpo and a healthy Norm Powell can deliver in the clutch.

BTW, the Raptors barely rate a mention in the US media. Not being in a big US media market will do that. Oh well. We dont give a farthing. Go Raptors Go!
Reviewed the trades made today and saw nothing that made think he would really have helped. A trade can mess up team chemistry and sometimes no trade is the best thing for a team.

khufu: as much as I want to defend McCaw, I can't! I think the Raps must believe there is an upside that will show up at some point. So far he is doing a great job of hiding the upside.
Nice to see OG put some offensive numbers up. 6 players in double figures last night, difficult to defend, Siakim scored 2 after H-J poked him in the eye. KLo will probably miss tonight's game, whip lash could see him out a while or it being KLo, back quickly.
13 wins in a row, with Leonard gone NEVER saw that coming. Kudos to Masai Nurse and the players!

With Lowry, Gasol and Powell all out, a defeat would have been excused. Yet, VanVleet, Davis and Thomas, all undrafted, scored 64 points in the 14th consecutive Raptors victory against the Nets.

The story about Davis and his mom is really heartwarming. Abandoned by his dad, his mom worked 16 hours at two jobs to care for Davis and siblings. Then he went undrafted on draft day. But his mom assured him God had a plan for him. And now here he is, starting his first home game as a rookie and scoring 20 points and 5 offensive boards. So just as Lowry tutored VanVleet to stardom, here we have VanVleet tutoring TD2 on his way to stardom. The ability of Masai and his team to find diamonds in the rough - except for McCaw - is unmatched in any sport. Masai is a genius. And so is Nick Nurse.

Have you noticed Chris Boucher with his new mohawk hair style? Suits him much better than the corn rows he had before.

Cheers
Yup, Like Boucher's hair style much better too, bet he really gives a rat's ass what we think!
Hope Davis's mother sees him signing a new contract with the Raptors. He has done nothing but improve since the start of the season. I remember a game early in the season when the bench had an awful game and I slagged him and the rest of the bench for their performance. Sure have trouble finding fault with his game now.
A W is a W, but they it looked like the Raps would breeze and they barely hung on. Probably a combination of injuries and games on consecutive nights.
TWolves without Wiggens next. They kicked crap out of the Leonard led Clippers last night so Raps better come prepared. I believe both Gasol and KLo will be game time decisions. Powell out until at least the 21st as per CBS sports.
Hard to believe they win 14 in a row and they haven't gained much on the Bucks.

I don't give a shit about basketball, probably my least favorite sport, but this Raptors team is something else. Kudos!
