NY City Police: 36,000 officers , $92 BILLION budget
Toronto Police: 5,000 officers, $1.1 BILLION budget

Toronto had neither the staffing nor equipment / infrastructure to do what you are saying. They can't budget and staff weeks / months in advance on the premise that a sports team might win and have a parade.
This is so ignorant. There's also a population and land mass disparity or did you just conveniently leave that out?

Actually it's your post that's ignorant.

NYC's population (8.6M) is 3 x's Toronto (2.8M) however they have 7 x's the number of LEO's.

That's the point kugel2 is making to a member who compared NYC's screening and perimeter security on NYE vs. TPS having nowhere near the same level of manpower.

Toronto's homicide rate is sky rocketing while it's an understatement to say NYC's is decreasing. They've gone from "murder capital" of the country to one of the safest large cities in the world. In fact Toronto's murder rate eclipsed NYC in 2018.

(Btw k2, whopping error/typo on the NYPD budget lol. It's approx $6B).

Paris, Brussels, Manchester, Boston, etc., etc. If we have learned anything in the last couple of years, it is that a concrete plan of attack prevention and response needs to be in place whenever and wherever there is going to be a heavy concentration of people. The possibility of the Raptors winning the championship and having a parade culminating in a mass concentration of people at Nathan Philips Square has been present since the beginning of the playoffs.

Again I say to you and the others of your apologetic ilk, we were lucky the shots werent fired in the middle of the crowd or that an explosive wasnt detonated in the middle of the crowd. The ensuing stampede and carnage would have made what happened look like a picnic.
I'm apologizing for nothing. You, on the other hand, can't tell me how many cops you would need to execute your plan to contain 2 million people. I won't even go into where you thought they might get all the metal detectors.... If you can't answer the question to your post, then stand down. You'll just embarrass yourself further.

NY city, 790 sq. km, Toronto 609 sq km. On the day in question, the relevant part is to contain 2 million people with available resources in an area that was referred to as similar to Times Square with a similar crowd density. Toronto has 5000 officers to draw from ( they all don't work 24/7, not all are in uniform, about 1/3 are in investigative units). And khufu still won't say how many cops he thinks should have been used for his rings of security for 2 million people.

First thing, who the fuck brings a gun to a parade?

Second, makes you wonder how many idiots like these are out there. I think we have a big problem in toronto when it comes to clowns and guns. Time for stop and frisk and carding.

But the 4th guy is described as white with brownish hair so I guess he doesn’t enjoy sun tanning?
The police believe the white guy with the short brown hair is the shooter.
The three black guys that were arrested had weapons but they were not used.
I’m glad they were arrested and hopefully the white guy on the loose is caught soon.

I stand corrected LB, what I mistakenly quoted was the budget for the whole city, but obviously you got what I was trying to say. Thanks for setting it straight.

That is why I didn't get too close to the downtown crowds. I had a bad feeling and expressed to my friends that I was worried someone would get shot.
At around the same time 3 men and a boy were stabbed in or around the Eaton Centre. You're safe unless you happen to get mow down by a rental van on Yonge Street or shot in the face on a patio on the Danforth or standing in line at Shoppers and are stabbed to death at the checkout.

Farther back you're lucky you're not Jane Creba or in the Eaton Centre when Husband shot dead two people and wounded others.

...

2) Police looking for male white, 5'9"-6', light brown hair, heavy set.
As typical, this piece of news gets swept under the table.

I thought Torontonians (and other Raptor fans who came in) managed the day well. Waiting in a crowd for hours longer than expected and people still kept pretty positive.

I was on the Danforth that night (but a further east). But I remember all the police cars and ambulances and people panicking. A close relative was at the van incident and saw two bodies.

I was happy watching the Raptors parade at a pub.

Finally Dart comes up with something brilliant. The only safe place is in your home and even then someone can break in. Don't go to work cause someone can go postal.

Yes, it's universally acknowledged that a pub is the safest place on the face of the earth. Maybe even the galaxy.

It was only messed up around Nathan Philips Square.
As I mentioned to Miss Croft earlier, this shit can happen anytime anywhere. It's a reality for a few years now.

There seems to be no new news in the past 3 days. Who is that white man with the gun? Will he ever be caught? Who are the 4 gunshot victims?
