Probably more of that white on white crime that is plaguing the city. Likely licensed gun owners just letting loose again. Same ol' same ol'.

Yep, too bad about the shootings, hope all are okay which I hear is the case, but hey, what do you expect in a gathering of 2 Million people? Really? Please don’t tell me you are surprised in this day and age. Sad, but true.

Why?

Are you expecting it to be a black person? Would that reinforce a stereotype you probably have?

I suppose if they turn out to be black, that would certainly reinforce the stereotype.

I truly hope that some of the current generation of young black boys and men will grow up to conduct themselves like great men like Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry, rather than the gangsta rapper trash idols this generation had as aspirational role models.

Fucking terrible. People just out to have a good time and this shit happens. So sad.

I was downtown and enjoying a real sense of unity and community as Torontonians and Canadians... just like everyone else. EVERYONE, black, white, brown men and women were all one big happy family having a great time together.

Then this happened.

Total buzz kill.

A couple of low-life fucktards managed to kill the buzz and happiness of a city and a country.

I genuinely feel bad for the 99.9% of black people who suffer in their day to day lives as a result of the soul-sapping prejudice they experience because of the few low life assholes.

And I bet the victims were probably just caught in the cross fire. Just there to cheer and then they end up in the hospital with gun shot wounds.

I'm a diehard fan, but only figuratively.

This incident cannot overshadow what we witnessed yesterday. It was an ultra, super, mega, celebratory day of the kind we have never seen in this city and may never again.

Let's build a dynasty around this team.

God is great.

more like a small handful of idiots amongst a massive celebration of 2 million diverse people having a fun time and proving that multiculturalism works in Toronto.... but let's ignore that and focus on the handful of idiots

Very nice Toronto.

This is why we can’t have nice stuff.
LOL.....how "un Canadian" that seems (see that thread on Canada to the outside world)

I would say Indianna is over reacting to an isolated incident that does not take away from the overall greatness of the day, imo.

It appeared that the police were unprepared for the crush of humanity that happened. The parade ended four hours late, not enough barricades in place to move it along and not enough water stations. Also EMS personnel should have been in place long before the event. They couldn't risk keeping a crowd of that size in one place late into the day - Drake had to cancel his performance.

Everything went our way but we need to remind ourselves that it could have started out badly. Last summer, if Kyle had refused Kawhi's dinner invitation - the 76ers would now be NBA Champions and Kawhi would be leaving already.

Dina Puglese got excited over The King of the North's dance moves. Would you play poker against The Fun Guy?

The lead story on all international news websites was not the exuberance of Toronto the multicultural city but rather something like this: “4 wounded and 3 arrested as shots fired at Raptors victory parade.” The image of Toronto the beautiful was marred in one fell swoop. That is the sad part.

However, it could have been far worse. Imagine if the stampede had engulfed the whole assembled mass? Catastrophe would have ensued in front of the Prime Minister, assembled dignitaries and a global audience.

After the Danforth unprovoked shooting, you would have thought the Toronto police would have done a better job by forming protective rings around the crowd. Instead, they continued in their lackadaisical ways as if we live in the sixties. Shame on the murderous perpetrators and the incompetent police.
Maybe you can think it through before blindly undermining the cops and what kind of affect you have on their state of well being. Example
New York Police Officer Kills Himself, Third Police Suicide in 10 Days https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/14/us/nypd-officer-suicide.html
Just maybe if the city approved higher budget and the ones who organize the police got their shit together, maybe this could have been improved. Usually the front line officers are the first to get criticized. In this scenario they did an amazing job containing the situation given the limited resources they had to control 2 million people. At one end people criticize that cops are overpaid then they criticize cops that they are incompetent and not doing their jobs. I think you should consider how much you play into this equation by spreading false and negative energy about the cops and what are the true implications and consequences to the police force with such attitude.

According to Chief Saunders:

1) The two guns seized are not the gun that fired the shots.

2) Police looking for male white, 5'9"-6', light brown hair, heavy set.

Completely predictable. Sadly we focus on the negative aspects. We see that in all facets of everyday life. Look at this message board for example. Positive reviews typically yield few replies but any thread that criticizes gets tons of responses. Look at the SP rant going on in this forum. It's at nine pages and counting.
