Liberals to Ban Single-use Plastics as early as 2021

O

OnTheWayOut

"Yesterday, while announcing the Liberal plan, the Prime Minister was asked by reporters to describe what his family was doing to limit single plastic usage.

“We have recently switched to drinking water bottles out of… water out of… when we have water bottles out of plastic. Sorry! Away from plastic towards paper like drink-box water bottles sort of things,” claimed the Prime Minister."

How does a straw from the GTA make it to the Atlantic ocean? It does not. If you want to make a difference, put separate garbage bins at fast food places for straws and plastic utensils. Make it illegal to throw away straws and plastic utensils with a $100 fine/per item for people that throw them in the regular trash.

Contrary to what was previously stated, Canada produces more garbage per person than any other country. Michigan will no longer take our trash, Far Eastern countries have had enough and demanding we take back our trash. Relations with the PRC are frosty but they haven't stopped taking our trash - mere words cannot describe how messy and smelly it will get if they do. Canada is far behind EU countries in terms of recycling. We are also completely clueless on how to deal with the most toxic waste of all - used diapers.

Oh dear, pretending we don't need to pay taxes to do things properly because finding efficiencies and cutting costs will pay for what needs doing, scores another failure.

Washed and re-used diapers aren't toxic, neither is baby-poo, nor pee. It's all that hyper-hydrophilic plastic the disposables are made of. Can't send that through the sewage plant.

Probably the best we can hope for.
Doug Ford > Andrew Scheer.

He's an ex drug dealer, I know where he's coming from...and I never took a loan from the Fords.:eyebrows:

Andrew Scheer is a Saskatchewan Evangelical, they're about as trustworthy as a used car salesman. Wigglee I was looking for Scheer's oil hegemony speech in Calgary, haven't found it.

Yep, but given very small population in Canada it does not matter.

Is this for real or a Beaverton/Onion type report?

Trudeau family spent $300 on bottled water in a single month.

Like The Philippines, countries like Malaysia are returning all of the plastic waste that was not only dumped by Canada, but also countries like The USA and The UK. Let us face it, where do you want this waste to go, when we conveniently dumped it on those countries, and they are now being dumped back on our shores? If all those countries that accepted our plastic waste in the past, and will not tolerate it any longer, should our Government not act to do something about it?? The Conservatives are not a solution to such problems as they will want to hide it under the carpet just like The Harper administration did so:

It's mindblowing how stupid some people get when they blame everything on politics, one party over another. Come on are you not older than 10? Or is that just your IQ. Waste is a Canadian problem. Full stop.

In fact it's a personal problem: Buy less stuff that you just throw away. That costs you at the cash, and down the road it costs us all. TANSTAFFL.

Single items don't need bags. You already put your lemons in one bag, don't let the cashier stick that bag in another one. The potato chips are already in a bag. Surely the 'free' reusable bags you already have — and forgot to bring — are more than you'll ever need, for the love of all things living DO NOT EVER accept another. TANSTAFFL.

Ask for a paper bag if you need one. We didn't need to invent a word like 'bio-degrade' to describe what happens to them, they just return to the Earth. Merchants will get the message.

So if the present Government wants to do something about it, and this Guy objects as he usually does to everything:

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer said he’s concerned about how the plan might impact businesses and consumers.
Then you should be addressing that statement to him, as he is the one politicizing it. But this kid understands it and maybe she should explain it to you!!

But Tessa Jenks, 12, said she’s relieved that Trudeau is taking this step.“Finally someone is acknowledging us and wanting to make a difference in our country,” said Jenks, who has been trying to get single-use plastics banned in her town of Inuvik, N.W.T.

Jenks said she’s had to face the reality of plastic pollution during community cleanups and “it’s just disgusting.”
Maybe she should drive some sense into Scheer's head as well:

Scheer, who will be one of the political leaders going head-to-head with Trudeau during this fall’s federal election, said there aren’t enough details in Trudeau’s plan to prove it won’t be a hardship for people.

He even turned his skepticism into a bit of a pun: “This is clearly just a government clutching at straws,” he said.

Jenks said the change won’t be easy for some Canadians, but it’s the “right thing” to do.

“Yup. It’s a big change,” she said, “but we’re just going to have to get used to it.”

Maybe when you mentally mature you will realize that not every single issue is a partisan one.

So this is the best you have then? Just grow up, as this issue has been politicized by all the political parties. Can you not accept the facts laid out on the table for all to see? That kid has more common sense than you!!
