You're almost a week behind the events. Do try harder to keep up with these events you say are such dire threats.

He was arrested for disturbing the peace last Tuesday, and released on bail the next morning. The networks covered it back then. He'd been harassing gays in the Village with a bullhorn for two hours, and their patience had about run out. That's when the police finally stepped in to forestall violence and told him to move on, he'd annoyed these people long enough. When he refused and continued shouting he was arrested.

Anyone can quote the Bible all they want, to anyone they want. Even to a cop (whether she might be gay is no concern of anyone but her). But deliberately harassing people and causing a public disturbance has never been tolerated.

Find a grown-up cause.

You obviously didn't watch the video.
The Gays were circling around ready to pounce from the moment the group got there and started their own private, un-amplified group prayer to themselves.
Also there was no harassing being done at all. He was preaching love and respect for all people, including them.
Secondly, the cops showed up and immediately started trying to also charge him with hate speech, even though nothing hateful was said at all.

When Muslims were preaching in Toronto months ago without a permit, Rebel media videoed them actually preaching death to Gays. Death.
The cops not only didn't arrest them, they gave them a security escort so they could march while preaching this hatred.
All caught on video, yet no one does anything.

This was Christianophobia pure and simple. Maybe you should include all the facts when you repeat the story.

The war on Christianity continues without anyone flinching. Meanwhile members of every other religion do as they please.

What if he had been preaching against people with white skin? Or women? Or people with red hair? Or thalidomide victims? None of those things are a choice, and neither is homosexuality. So let's just say they arrested him for being a complete and utter asshole who shouldn't be walking the streets with decent people. Like white women with red hair who are thalidomide victims. If someone stands outside my house every day and screams that I'm a sinner and a pervert because I was born in East York, the police had better drag him away before I make him disappear.

Once again, another person commenting without knowing a single fact about what happened.
He wasn't preaching that they were sinners, or singling out homosexuals.
He was preaching that God loves and respects all people everywhere.

Again, if you didn't watch the video that chronicled the entire event, you have no business commenting.
You're comment is in and of itself Christianophobic.

YGBSM. You know damned well what is meant by his preaching. It's meant to tell them that they can be 'saved' from homosexuality if they accept some fictional character in a book. There is nothing to be saved from. It is no different than the examples I cited above.

For what its worth, if anything, here is the view from that other good book.

"the Quran narrates the story of the "people of Lot" destroyed by the wrath of God because they engaged in lustful carnal acts between men. Homosexual acts are forbidden in traditional Islamic jurisprudence and are liable to different punishments, including the death penalty,"

The bible says that a man should not lay with another man like he would lay with a woman. Just do gay stuff standing up and doggystyle. Easy fix man.

While religion itself might be a bit off topic, and I have no info on the Qoran, but bibilcally the bad acts related to lot and the OT which dealt with pederasty. For example, hetero males defeating armies in battle and having sex to demean them. That was unnatural, just like it would be unnatural for a gay man to have sex with a woman.

Gayness exists in most all species it is just as natural as being heterosexual or perhaps the best of both worlds bi. I am a zero on the Kinsey scale - extreme heterosexual. I don't see how women like us men but am sure glad they do! I don't have a heterosexual lifestyle any more than a gay or bi chooses a lifestyle - it is simply how were developed due to various complex factors in the womb.

Regarding Lot: The story of Lot does not address homosexuality or same sex acts in general, but, insofar as it condemns any sexual act, it condemns male anal rape of men. Furthermore, the rapists in the story are depicted otherwise as heterosexuals, that is, as men who have wives (Qur’an 26:165-66); “. . . it appears that the men of Lot’s Tribe were actually heterosexual men attempting to aggressively assert their power against other vulnerable men” (Kugle, 54).

It's like the dude who "just happens to peacefully walk his dog outside a mosque full of devout, dog-fearing Muslims each and every time they are at prayer". He's not doing anything overtly aggressive either. He just knows that having a dog outside a mosque defiles the mosque and is mortally insulting to the congregation.

You don't have to be screaming "fuck you!" to be causing a disturbance. And all of these publicity hounds know exactly how to portray themselves as innocent victims of the "media war against free speech and traditional values".

Yet nothing of the kind was said during the preaching.
So you put words in others mouths, then criticize them for these words that they didn't say.
Yet other religious preachers, that do actually say these words and even worse, are given a pass just because they are not Christians.

Again, your views are blatantly Christianophobic.

Free speech shouldn't be something you protect only when you agree with the speaker. Being arrested for saying something that is offensive, maybe even offensive in the extreme, is what free speech stands against. If you can no longer even say whats on your mind, we have dropped to a very low level of freedom.

And when the gang from the office go out for an after work drink, be sure to order orange juice and not beer if there is a Muslim in the group.

But what if there's a Leafs fan there too, you gotta get a beer. Life is so tough!

I can't believe schools aren't being more proactive to teach young kids about how to either not be offensive, or, trying to be authentic.

Oh wait, they're doing that aren't they. Leave authentic at home from now on.
