Just saw a Ford commercial about the carbon tax during the NBA finals. Anyone else find it a bit ridiculous that they put on an ad about saving taxpayers money after spending money on the ad and purchasing repeated space in probably the highest demand time other than an Olympic hockey final?

That's going to play so well as a use of money vs cuts to education and things like forest fire fighters.
Combine that with the fees for breaking the beer store contracts and Ford's in deep shit.

How stupid does Ford think we are? He fails to mention the rebate that everyone gets.

The cost of the ad is an abstract. The poor schmucks filling their gas tanks and seeing their grocery bills go up is called reality. I'm disappointed with some of the political experts on this board. Such simplicity escapes you...

Gas prices constantly fluctuate. In spite of what the ad says, they've not risen beyond the range I'm used to seeing when I pull in to fill-up. And I already got my Federal rebate, thanks.

So Dougie's ads for the Conservatives are a waste of money and bandwidth. Not to mention his Auditor-General has said, they would be an unlawful use of tax-dollars for Party purposes, except Wynne loosened the rules. Don't I remember a self-righteous Dougie braying throughout the campaign about how Crooked Kathleen was ignoring the virtuous A-G?

Any sign of Dougie protecting us taxpayers he says are so precious, and changing the rules back? Or does he think we're too stupid to notice or care?

$360 average sum is a slap in the face. Even if you live off the grid in a tent will net you a rebate that you didnt contribute to. How does that make any sense?

Do some simple math. Look at your bills. Calculate how much gas your car needs to run for the year.

Anyone with half a brain will see that you will far exceed the average threshold of the rebate.

Great idea? Only if you are brain dead and love the to suck down Trudeau's cock as he parts your hair telling you what a good boy you are......

Doug Ford > Andrew Scheer, Christine Elliot

These ads came up too often during the game, I just switch channels.

I've always been against a carbon tax, it's actually worse than nothing and it makes people apathetic. Canada is doing a piss poor job at conservation, a comprehensive plan of being environmentally responsible is needed - not some punitive, limp-wristed carbon tax. Our excessive production of garbage is just beginning to come back and bite our asses.

Btw, has anyone gotten a rebate yet?

Doug Ford is better than Andrew Scheer and Christine Elliot.

He's shown himself to be flexible, the health cuts would have put Ontarians in danger. Christine Elliot is a poisonous human being, she would have said "fuck you", this is how it's going to be. And I know where Premiere Douglas is coming from, unlike Andrew Scheer who is a blue Dalton McGuinty.
Did anyone catch his speech in Calgary about petroleum hegemony.

Granted I drive very little compared to most, but at 5¢ a litre the rebate entirely pays for that additional Federal gas tax. Taking the TTC nets me even more.

I want to know why Dougie thinks the Province thinks it needs to grab back the bit of Ontario's gas tax the Province used to share with the City. How does he expect us to pay part of his new back-of-the envelope Subway Plan out of property taxes? He has 'our' gas tax and Queens Park's, and an Income Tax to work with, runs a deficit and still can't find the cash.

Maybe he should give up the adverts and do the work.

So, what you are saying is that its ok to pollute but at a cost? Never mind what Doug is saying, how do you think paying to pollute is fixing our climate?

It's a tax. It's got nothing to due with the climate. If you feel so strongly about carbon taxes why don't you give 100% of your pay cheque to the Government. They've done such a great job fixing....what ?

O

OnTheWayOut

Rebate, schmebate. If they are giving you back all or most of what you pay in, what is the purpose? Wake up folks...... it's a fuckin tax. Bend over and enjoy it or fight it.

Like Trudeau said, you should pay a cost to pollute.
Its a first step to cutting down pollution, namely CO2 pollution.

At least the Government have reimbursed us with those Carbon tax Credits. When big Corporations fix the gas prices for their huge bonuses I do not see any repercussions from the right wingers!!

Or... you could buy a more fuel efficient car, which is the whole point.

See, that's your problem. You see everything in the political terms. But, this is a kitchen table issue. Hence, you're blind.

If it's strictly a kitchen table issue why is the Ontario government campaigning against a Federal government tax, using the scarce dollars we gave them? Tax-dollars that they claim they haven't nearly enough of. And why is that the topic?

Too silly. Thanks for the morning giggle.
