I always hear about Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, Stranger Things, The Wire, etc. What are some shows that no one has ever heard of that you think are underrated and under appreciated?
One of my favorite shows, was this show called Blackstone that aired on aptn between 2011 and 2015. If you are familar with shows like North of 60, and Mocassin Flats, It deals with pretty much the same subject matter, but is far more gritty, and has much better writing and acting. It's basically about this fictional first nations reserve and the people that live on it. It is told from the perspective of many different characters and it deals with subject matter that many indigienous people living on Indian reservations face, like drug addiction, alcoholism, domestic violence, sexual abuse, murder, politics, and corruption by the Indian Chiefs on the reserve. Part of the reason why I like it so much was because of how raw and real it is. it's dark, it's gritty and many of the characters have very tragic stories. The characters are fascinating and you really begin to feel for them. characters who you previously hated, become likeable and sympathetic, I discuss this show with my friends and TV buffs alike and it seems nobody has ever heard of it. Is it because it's a Canadian show?
What are some shows that you love that apparently don't get the recognition they deserve?
