Has anyone here flown first/business class and checked out the airlines lounges?
I have flown with Delta and United business class in the past with lay overs while connecting but never bothered to visit their lounges while I wait.
What do they offer? Free food? I know some have showers.Other than being more comfortable and relaxing what's the big deal? I have read some airlines restrict the time you can spend in them,is that true?

I’ve done it several times. Usually there’s free food, though sometimes it’s just small snacky things. Free drinks, including booze, usually a bar and you mix your own drinks. Free wifi. Usually the bathrooms are a lot nicer. The lounges here in Pearson are not great, usually the food is just reheated President’s Choice frozen stuff, and they tend to run out pretty fast. I usually wind up eating first, then heading to the lounge. The KLM-Air France lounge in Schipol in Amsterdam is fantastic.

It’s not something I’d pay extra for, but if you’re flying business/first class, it’s a nice perk. Makes waiting for your flight a lot less painful.

Those in Asia and Europe are much better. The ones in North America incl those in Toronto are all overcrowded dumps. I go there for a drink or so but never bothered with the food.

While in larger airports or while in Canada and the US, no. But anywhere else, always upgrade to the VIP lounge. That is my motto.

I agree w the comments that the international ones are the best. Off the top of my head ...Singapore, Hong Kong, Narita, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, air Canada or United terminal 2 Heathrow, United Polaris lounges in Newark or SF, great. The Maple Leaf Lounge near the E gates is good. 3 types of scotch, including Johnny black. Yes, some have showers. Food is free as are drinks. However some USA domestic lounges only well drinks or house wine/beer free, gotta pay for more upscale. Like the comfy chairs and electrical outlets everywhere. AC blocks sites like this.
