In no way do I agree with what Hitler did but you have to be naïve to call him lazy for how he came to power and what he did before the germans were defeated.

Actually, I was going to help him in all my war nerd-iness. There has been a MASS of stuff written in the last 30 years in revision of the old "Slaughter in the Trenches / Lions led by donkeys" view of WW 1. If he googles "Paddy Griffiths", he will get at least 3 expert books closely analyzing British tactical developments on the Western Front. These are things like artillery barrage plans, communications networks, tanks, infantry tactics and improved infantry firepower. The old "gentleman cavalry officer with a sub normal IQ" idea of British WW 1 leadership died a couple of decades ago.
When the US actually used the atomic bomb, Berlin was already being mass raped and looted by the Red Army, Hamburg was a British army officers' club and Munich was being photographed by GI's fucking Bavarian frauleins in return for Hershey bars. That doesn't say much for the "most advanced military in the world".

That's actually the current state of opinion.
The "Lions led by Donkeys" school is 1960's.
The article clearly says the British generals were incompetent but goes on to give reasons (excuses?) why they were incompetent. Excuses (reasons?) doesn't change the fact they were incompetent.
