Hello Everyone,

I'm doing a search for a new television. The Panasonic T(tau) unit is showing it's age. Can anyone recommend a brand model and a store.

Vizio has got to be one of the most affordable smart tv out there...60" is about $599 and good reviews.

Out being curious
We need to know your budget and what you primarily use your tv for.

If you had no cap, I would say get Samsung's 8K or LG's 77 oled.

If you want size, sony as a great 85'

Two years ago I bought a Samsung smart Tv. It worked great until about 6 months ago Now the smart part doesn't connect. I called Samsung, and they said sorry.. it's out of warranty... take it to a dealer. It also turns off every 15 min, and the screen states that it is updating. This takes about 2 min. The estimate to fix it is $300. I sort of fixed it, I bought a Roku for $30, and that works great. Would I buy another Samsung …..NO.

I bought an LG 'smart' TV in the Target Canada clearance. Pictures's fine but half a bag of gravel is twice as smart, and the so-called Customer Support material is worse. Nothing I've seen since on their web-site encourages me to believe later models are any better. It has soured me on the entire LG brand.

Stay away from the ones that created their own smart software. Go for ones that have Chromecast built in. That way you only need to hit a button on your laptop, tablet, or phone and it goes to the screen. Never out of date because all works thought Chrome browser or app on phone. Bonus: can stream anything including putlocker.ninja and fmovies.io or any other site hosting sports.

Not going to get into details, but I had a horrendous experience with LG. Bought a 65" smart t.v that broke after 6 months and they wouldn't do fuck all for me. Cost me 2300.00 so I had to go buy a new Samsung smart T.V and so far so good. I'm also much happier with the picture quality.

Here
I highly recommend SONY...

Yes, the price is a bit higher but not all that much. But the quality and service is super. The service depends on who you buy it from.

I had a top end Samsung for about 8 years but bought a SONY XBR a few months ago and I am happier than a pig in shit!

I can't agree. I have one Panasonic Plasma and an LG OLED. The OLED has much deeper blacks than plasma. OLED just unbeatable.
Oooooops, I wasn't thinking of OLED. Yes, they have the ability to completely shut off power to individual pixels whereas Plasma still emits a tiny bit of light. Plasma still beats LED/LCD when it comes to black levels though. What year and model Plasma do you have?

Stay away from Samsung and LG. They may be slightly cheaper brand new but they don’t tend to last and their customer service is terrible.
I have a SHARP 55 inch HD TV and it’s worked great for the last four years.

Digital Forum is a great place to get reviews and other useful information on all things electronic. Used it years ago before buying a new plasma tv and got lots of information on what tv to buy and how to get it for hundreds less that MSRP.

I second that. ^^^

I had the mod "57" calibrate my Plasma when I got it. Made a huge difference. I highly recommend anyone who buys a new TV to get it professionally calibrated. CNET is also a good source of information.

Does anyone here have a curved screen TV?
Are they any better than a flat screen? Is it just a gimmick?
