Serving in the military teaches a young person self respect, discipline, responsibility, and how to work with others. You can also get a free education, become a engineer,airline pilot, mechanic and the list goes on.I dont see the down side especially considering the current generation we're raising these days.
It also, in the USA, can result in death, loss of body part, ptsd, opioid addiction.

Thank you but I wasn't referring to the US. Canada give us so much in terms of quality of living and equal opportunity i think 2 years serving its isn't too much to ask.
If your auto-correct gives you "re I dtitute" you might want to check on it.
p.s. He was pretty clear in the interview that it would not be a draft and would not be mandatory. Might be more like the way Ontario makes students do volunteer hours as a graduation requirement.
