Where were you 50 years ago? It's hard to believe but it has been 50 years since.

1) Men, sorry, I mean people walked on the moon.

2) Joe Namath won the Super Bowl.

3) The New York Mets won their first World Series.

4) HIV didn't exist.

5) The Maple Leafs won their last Stanley Cup (ok 52 years).

Was Woodstock also in 1969? Those hippies are now in their 70's unless they overdosed earlier like Janis.

On January 20, 1969 Richard M. Nixon was sworn in as the 37th president of the United States.

He later became famous as the president who re-opened relations between the U.S. and the PRC.

Fifty years ago, Rocket Robin Hood was my Star Trek.

Never forget Little John's legendary line, " Ah come on brain, you've just got to work faster".

I was only 4 at the time, so, sadly, don`t remember anything firsthand about Apollo 11 landing. That must have been one awesome experience. Still, looking back and recognizing that, holy crap, these guys landed on the Moon, and made it back safely, using 1960`s technology! It`s said that today, there are more computers in your average Buick then there was on board the Eagle! It wasn`t till I saw the movie First Man, about Neil Armstrong, that I truly realized just how close that mission came to catastrophy, when, with just literally seconds of fuel to spare they escaped landing on boulders or a giant crater, and hence the famous words from Mission Control after Neil announced the `The Eagle Has Landed`, `Eagle, we copy you down. You had a bunch of guys about to turn blue. We`re breathing again!`

Chappaquiddick destroyed any chance of Ted Kennedy ever becoming president.

Trivia question: No Googling. Who won the Stanley Cup in 1969? My guess is Bobby Orr and the big bad Boston Bruins.

It was either Boston or Montreal. They pretty much won every SC for a decade. I know Montreal won the year after the Leafs but not sure about the 68-69 season. I think you may be right. Orr's first Cup.
I wasn't around in 1969 but that was a pretty epic year.
