Bruins are going to have a much tougher time in the second round against Columbus.
i sorta figured all the leaf fans would jump all over the bruins:yawn:. we shall await the outcome. and if they won instead of the bruins, columbus would have swept them also.

I only guessed right with Boston and St. Louis in Round One, and I so wanted to be wrong with those picks :(

For Round Two, my predictions are:

Dallas vs St Louis - Blues in 7
Colorado vs San Jose - Avalanche in 6
Columbus vs Boston - Blue Jackets in 6
Carolina vs NYI - Islanders in 7

It’s not a shot against the Bruins - they have a better team and deserved to win the first round.
Columbus though brings a well-rounded game with more structure and discipline.
I predict the Bruins will have their hands full this round.

The last 10 minutes and OT were a more than a game's worth of dama and energy by themselves.

I didn't agree with the penalty. To me it was a 2 minute cross-checking penalty (although the exact same play happens hundreds of times with no penalty at all) and 99.9% of the time the only outcome is the player who was hit stagger back a little or gets dropped on his but and pops right back up.

Nobody hit his head, nobody took a long charge, nor hit him from behind or a blind side, The fact he got hurt was due to a series of freak accidents, from the unusual way he twisted on initial contact, then the way he collided with a stratled Stastny, and finally the awkward fall to the ice. Unfortunate but not a Major penalty. I didn't even see a Ref's arm go up on the initial hit, they caved in to the optics after the fact and called it retroactively.

The Sharks did a great job of making a rallying point out of it, as the Hurricanes did with the Ovechkin KO of Smechnikov. Gallant did a poor job of not calling a T/O after that first goal to try to slowing things down a bit although I'm not sure 30-45 seconds would have been enough seeing how the Knights seemed infected by negative energy and anticipation from the whole episode.
I agree it shouldn't be a 5 min major, should be 2 minors. But LV shouldn't be allowing 4 PP goals, maybe 1 or 2, but 4 PP goals???

Trying to stay in a Happy Place
2nd Round Picks
Dallas vs St. Louis - Blues in 7 (Binnington continues to channel his inner Ken Dryden/Patrick Roy like rookie season playoff performance - both won the Cup in their rookie year)
Colorado vs San Jose - Sharks in 7 (assuming Pavelski is back by Game 2)
Columbus vs Boston - Blue Jackets in 6 (Panarin and Bobrovsky try to maximize free agent value with inspired playoff performances)
Carolina vs NYI - Islanders in 6 (bunch of jerks run out of steam - if it goes to Game 7 I switch my prediction to Carolina due to Justin Williams)

See if I can improve on my 1 out of 8 success rate in 1st round

Columbus is also a big nasty team. More so than Boston even. Hedman was injured and Columbus loaded up so it wasn't like Columbus beat out the regular season version of Tampa.

Impossible to root for a team that has Marchand on it so I'm going for Columbus to beat them.

I'd like St Lous to win the cup. Have always liked their jerseys and colours. Except for that time when they had that diagonal stripes going on. Cherry also pointed out the team is predominantly Canadian players so they may truly be Canada's team.

A team with a history of goons and dirty players since the late 60's. Only team I hate more is Phil.

After 5 periods it is obvious that the Bruins are facing a much more physical opponent. Chara got into a fight to-night. I remember when he fought Chris Neil and Neil could have killed him but held back.

You needed to watch 5 periods to know this? You do know Leafs are the softest team in the league don't you? Columbus steam rolled TB by being savage. They would have done the same if they faced Leafs.
