The logical conclusion from that train of thought is that no school will make our kids bulletproof.

well, with the 1000 more we have right now, our children are far off worse now than they were before the hiring. Have you asked an elementary student to write in cursive lately? How about ask to see their penmanship? Show them a number above 10,000 and ask them to say it.

Go FORD!

It's like saying that more cars on the 401 will help to decrease traffic congestion.
More like they're saying crowding up the roads will make better drivers.

As the roads have filled up over the years we've seen how cutting traffic cops has improved driving haven't we? Congrats to Dougie for applying the same Smart Fix to our children and their futures.

No one will need to pay to get that crop of kids into good colleges.

The GoP have done a good job of dumbing down America by not properly funding the educational system and trump is one of the results. Uneducated people are easier to manipulate.

Same tactic by Ford. Sacrifice the quality of education in the name of controlling expenses. The price always gets paid down the road.

Average class sizes of 22 is ridiculous. My god these teachers have it made in the shade. How much extra is this costing taxpayers per year?
When I was in high school average class size was easily over 30. I distinctly recall my grade 10 math class of 36 students. On the first day there weren't enough desks.
Obviously that is an extreme example that's far too many students. Especially for a math class.
Overall I support at least having an average class size of 25, I think that is more than reasonable.

The teachers of this province have been spoiled rotten by 16 yrs. of Liberal rule. Welcome to reality.

See, you make an excellent case for the merits of smaller class sizes.
Thanks.

Someone should have taught you the meaning of the word "average". Whenever there is a special ed or autism class of 3 or 4, the other classes need to pick up the slack. If you have kids in your extended family, ask them the actual sizes of their classes. From what I understand, classes with over 30 kids are quite common and under this change will make numbers closer to 40.

Instead of just bitching about teachers, do you have any comment on the Education Minister's claim that larger classes will make students more successful? The Ford government is so pathetic they can't even come up with some good excuses for something that is transparently a cost cutting measure and has nothing to do with improving education.

The special needs classes are not included in the equation of average class sizes. I support lower class sizes for the earlier grades but I see no reason why we can't have 25-30 students in a high school history or geography class.
