I will be in Niagara Falls this weekend and just wondering if any golf courses will be open yet. I have no clue of your snow situation this year. In Ottawa we still have probably a month to go before courses open. Thanks for any info.

Yeah still way to early for golf around the golden horseshoe. With the warmer temperatures coming in, I find Deerfield (not so good) in Oakville and Dragon's Fire (pretty good) in Carlisle are the first two courses to open.

The Niagara on the Lake Golf Course opens sometime in March.
It's only 9 holes, but it's ranked high among the top 9-hole courses in the world.
It was established in 1875, and if officially North America’s Oldest Course.
Also, NOTL is a great town to have a drink in after a round.

Is this the course across the street from the Oban Inn? I went to the Inn years ago around this time and, although the course wasn't officially open, you could golf on the honour system. There was a bucket at the first tee and you'd drop whatever amount of money you wished into it.

The best course in N.F. by far is Grand Niagara. It is a Rees Jones design and is very difficult. The problem is that the green fees have increased in the last couple of years to $130. Power cart taxes in prime time weekends. The best deal is in Niagara Falls N.Y. called Hickory Sticks. An excellent course with green fees around $60. USD.

I have also played the Niagara Parks courses and enjoyed them. Was in town last week and no courses open but no snow. I still had a good time in Niagara Falls except for traffic on way down in Toronto.
