Why do strippers wipe the pole before a dance?

I never get why strippers bother to wipe the pole before a dance yet I don't see them wiping themselves after sitting on a customer talking to him or after a lapdance...

the pole is slippery. They're putting on stickem.

they generally use a little bandana for the lapdance...but to answer your question, other stripper are touching and rubing there genitals on the pole. I would wipe it too.

Sadly, the pole is the only thing that gets cleaned thoroughly in SC these days.

better question is "why do girls wipe our dickey bird before sucking it?"

French kissing involves all 34 muscles in the face.
A pucker kiss involves only 2.

They wipe it because it’s harder to catch anything specific when the viruses and germs are
    Smooshed altogether .

It's an attempt to disinfect it

In addition to hygienic reasons, a stripper I once talked to said she injured her neck one time doing a move where she couldn't maintain her grip on a slick section of the pole and hit her head on the stage.

This brings up another question. Are strippers covered by workers comp?

as simple as the fact that yes to desinfect, but the body is naturally oily and when you have people spinning off, their hands everywhere it get oily and slippery, alcohol make it dry

No, it's part of the show. Very alluring to see a stripper stroking a pole with both hands.

No, they are not. They have been treated as independent contractors by WSIB. They could, however, buy their own coverage, if they wished.

Was told that some strippers use a lot of oil on themselves to make their skin look better and smooth...
this oil gets on the poles and sometimes on the stage.....Ive seen strippers slip on stage because of the oil ....
maybe the same oil used for HJs

100% it is is to disinfect and minimize on catching something from the pole. Every dancer at Zanzibar does that right after the next girl. The owners must spend a fortune on Lysol. They take a Lysol disinfectant wipe from the largest container sold and wipe the poles down between dances. Before Lysol disinfectant wipes became the mainstream, the girls used the Lysol disinfectant spray bottle onto paper towel and do the wipe.

the fact that anyone has to ask this question concerns me greatly.

There's the hygiene issue but also a practical reason. Ever notice how a remote, keyboard, or mouse can get grungy? That's a result of oils from your fingers etc.

So wiping down prevents that build up and makes the pole easier to spin on as the pole will be smooth.
