I attended the vigil at Nathan Phillips last night because I felt it was the right thing to do. I left early. Unless I missed it there wasn't one word about the victims (including "brown" victims) of Islamic terrorism. It was all about New Zealand and Quebec City. Looks like not all victims of terrorism are equal and deserve the same respect and sympathy.

I'm sure that one could easily argue that the western colonial and post-colonial efforts in predominantly Muslim countries was the cause and 9/11 was the blowback.
Isn't one of the major tenets of liberalism/leftism that terrorism is never justified under any circumstances?

You should check the stats on fatalities as a result of the Global War on Terror, wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and the resulting refugee exodus from those countries
Ah, so you're saying we should expect some blowback from the Afghanistan, Iraq and Syrian wars then??

So thats a "yes" on your part then??
This attack had nothing to do with blowback.
Its about white supremacists who call refugees 'invaders', as Trump also does, and who are worried about 'white genocide'.
This arsewipe did not act in a vacuum.

They must have amnesia. All within the last 30 days. During this time period, there were 113 Islamic attacks in 20 countries, in which 813 people were killed and 818 injured.

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE??????????????????

Not sure if any of you read the shooter's manifesto, I've read most of it. It's clear to me that the shooter, while not formally higher educated, is an intelligent individual. He had the foresight to know what questions would be asked about his actions. He put significant thought and planning into this. It almost seems to me like he had some assistance or inspiration from an organization or group. I hope the authorities do significant investigation into this guy's background and ties. Could be a network.

In order to be "terror" it has to be a Muslim whose allegiance is to a foreign power (or group)...
At least you're upfront about your racialized view of the world.

Good thing no one used the term "terrorism" to describe actions in Ireland for a few decades (or were both sides secret Muslims).

Its still murder

In order to be "terror" it has to be a Muslim whose allegiance is to a foreign power (or group)

But the terror buzzword gets more readers for the news so we throw it around these days on anything
Unless this New Zealander was part of a group or had a political agenda it is NOT a terror attack
He published an Islamaphobic, white supremecist manifesto, you idiot. He mentioned the movement and named the Quebec mosque shooter and others in tribute

Yes, he named the Quebec mosque shooters and other in tribute and admired them!

Also, The terrorist gunman who killed 49 Muslims at a mosque in New Zealand said in his own manifesto that he wanted “no part of” conservatism, describing himself as an “eco-fascist” and expressing admiration for Communist China.

Answering the question “Were/are you a conservative?”, Brenton Tarrant wrote, “No, conservatism is corporatism in disguise, “I want no part of it.”

But you aren’t hearing that on the mainstream news, are you?

In his manifesto, Tarrant also expressed disdain for Donald Trump policies ( but Tarrant says he like "white nationalist" ) , and he openly admitted that the “nation with the closest political and social values to my own is the People’s Republic of China.”

That would make him a far left communist more than anything else. But the mainstream media just keeps using terms such as “right wing extremist” to describe him.

Tarrant also made it abundantly clear in his manifesto that he wants to see “a civil war in the United States”…

At three points in his manifesto, the shooter also states his intention to spark a civil war in the United States by triggering crackdowns on the Second Amendment. In his laundry list of motivations, the shooter spends the most amount of time discussing this goal, which he believes will ultimately lead to a “fracturing” of the U.S. along “cultural and racial lines.”

As he describes it, his attack will “Create conflict between the two ideologies within the United States on the ownership of firearms in order to further the social, cultural, political, and racial divide within the United States.”

Without a doubt, our nation is more divided today than we have ever seen in modern American history, and the stage is set for the mass societal chaos that I depicted in “The Beginning Of The End”. I am stunned by all of the anger, frustration and hatred that I see throughout our society, and it is getting worse with each passing day.

If we don’t learn how to love one another, we simply are not going to make it as a society.

Loving others does not mean that you always have to agree with them. We must always contend for the truth, but at the same time we have got to find a way to love those that are opposed to us.

Hatred never leads anywhere good, and Tarrant is a perfect example of that fact. Sadly, our world is filled with more hate than ever before, and that is going to have very serious consequences for all of us.

PS Yet elsewhere in the document ( manifest) the shooter describes himself as a socialist, “depending on the definition.” The shooter also declares his support for “environmentalism,” “worker’s rights,” and “responsible markets.”

Just watched part of the press conference by the police commissioner.

1) Appears only one person is responsible.
2) He was taken down by two police officers (favorite whipping boys of the left).
3) The real time streaming was actually helpful to the police as an early alert and to actually see what was happening.
