Actually, seeing him in person and feeling the excitement is something you cannot get from books. $200 for a half day - there are guest speakers - almost seems worth all the screaming
Once again it depends on the person. Some people are easily excited while others are not. You have to know yourself well enough to know if you can learn in such an environment.

Given how many self-help books exist, I'm beginning to think that lots of people need gurus like him, right or wrong. My guess is that there is a correlation between the decline of religion and the increase in "self-help" gurus/readership. A segment of society has problems coping with life, understanding how to live and how to give themselves purpose and positive feelings, and require direction in life. Religion used to serve that purpose before being dogged by science and now guys like this do. It can be a very good thing if it's not exploitative.

People, read children, need good parenting. I did not get it, not do countless others, hence the need for direction, in whatever form, later in life. That direction will not be sufficient, yet it will be something and should not be discounted. Like the kid trying to find his/her biological parent; while they may be ok, sort of, with the adoptive parent, there is this overwhelming desire to find the "real" parent. Humans, like every other organism out there, require the right stimulus at the right time. If they do not get it they die, or all hell breaks loose. Heaven help us all.

That makes a lot of sense, Marble. All the very best to you :)

And to you as well, Smallcock. Don't know if you are Irish, (I am 1/2 Irish)--but, happy St. Patty's day to all.

From what I have seen his seminars are designed to get his flock really, really, I mean really excited.

If I ran a seminar I would do the same thing.

Play rock music, disco lights, get the crowd to cheer non stop and let everyone know how great they are and have them shout it out for a couple of hours. Throw in a few fake healings then everyone leaves full of energy and self confidence and feeling really great about themselves.

Unless someone has a true mental disorder, what is wrong with what Robbins is doing?

But, I would just call it what it is - an energy seminar. Everyone screams positive thoughts for two hours. The crowd creates an intense energy.

Everyone leaves on a high and can't wait till I return in a few months for a "energy boost up"

I would get rich. Great idea. Just skip the pop psychology BS and call it what it is

But, before I went onstage I would pop a few ecsatcy pills to get me in the mood.

Sounds like fun

Coming this fall.
$1,200 for front row and get your pic with him but already sold out! Fucking unbelievable!
Back row $200 with other prices $500 and $700 depending how close you are to the big guy
Almost the same price as a Leaf game LOL
Anybody like this guy? I think he is a charlatan myself.
I had a few friends who attended Tony Robbins last year when he was here and every single one said they really enjoyed the day and it motivated them to do more in their respective careers.
I don't think he is a Charlatan he is just a smart business guy charging what he can and having 10's of thousands of people wanting to pay.
I believe some people (entrepreneurs/professionals) need the extra encouragement and motivation by others to maintain their focus. So if paying $1000 for tickets to have a successful speaker encourage and motivate you to be more of a success in your own industry I think it's a very small price to pay.

I personally wouldn't attend or want to see Tony Robbins but I can understand why there is so much interest in speakers like him.

I think that is the 6 day 12 hours a day brainwashing course

Could Tony Robbons represent a Jungian archetype? People are attracted to him as an unconscious father figure? Does anyone understand Jungian archetypes?

Archetypes were a concept introduced by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, who believed that archetypes were models of people, behaviors, or personalities. Archetypes, he suggested, were inborn tendencies that play a role in influencing human behavior.

Jung believed that the human psyche was composed of three components: the ego, the personal unconscious, and the collective unconscious. According to Jung, the ego represents the conscious mind while the personal unconscious contains memories including those that have been suppressed. The collective unconscious is a unique component in that Jung believed that this part of the psyche served as a form of psychological inheritance. It contained all of the knowledge and experiences we share as a species.

In Jungian psychology, the archetypes represent universal patterns and images that are part of the collective unconscious. Jung believed that we inherit these archetypes much the way we inherit instinctive patterns of behavior.

I have no concept of archetypes but, I think you are right on. Robbins is a wonderful Father figure to some. He has an answer for everything and is caring, goodlooking etc.

Excellent point.
