Keep to a regular schedule. If you are an early riser, don't change.
Just meet up with your buddies often so that you don't loose touch and miss out on the water cooler talk.
Go to meetups or volunteer so that people are around to ground you.
Just because you have the money don't go around buying tons of stuff or travel too much.(unless you already do this and can afford them)
Take up a hobby or expand on a current one.(a real hobby not the industry)
Learn a language or try out new cuisines you would never have thought to or better yet take a cooking class to learn to make them.
Then you can pickup ladies in other dialects and cook for them.
People watch and pay it forward at the grocery store or coffee shop and see how they react.
In the spring/summer hang out on queen street and watch the summer dresses walk by for the "ENTIRE DAY"!
Bring a buddy to the park and sit on a bench feeding the birds and complaining about everything.

Then come back here and write about it every night.

Challenge yourself to something new.

Back to school for something that interests you.
A new skill, boating (my choice), scuba, flying and the like.
Stay busy with something you love.

Go play golf! It's so time consuming and so fucking hard it'll keep you busy enough not to become a drunk ;)

Cheers,

I have half a million and a good pension, I could retire early but I want something to do.

Any suggestions?

My skills are not transferable
what's considered a good pension? So you have very specialized skills that can't be used anywhere else. Should we start guessing? Are you a professional golfer? Can't see where getting a ball in a hole can be used anywhere else.

And what's considered early?

That works in the summer,,a little consulting in the winter to add to your SP war chest! Works for me.

By the way half a million invested in blue chips can make a tidy sum.

Get a boat, go sailing around the world and see if you can make friends with the cannibals.

Thx for suggestions but what I would really like to do is start a business that I would enjoy along with other retired wealthy individuals. 20 hours a week work and make a small profit while having fun.

Example is I read that some retired guys opened a whiskey bar where they made their own whiskies.

I need something to do before I retire or I might as well keep working

BTW, I have over half a mil because I put $ into the market rather than over hobby. To each his own.

Market over hobby, you're in the right place.

LOL, but there are some smart business heads on TERB.

I agree with Zoots. This hobby is like gambling. You must gamble with your head, not over it. And that is why I use TERB. I want to make a good investment when I hobby.

Investment comes first, hobby second.

Directly above the center of the earth
I'm sure there are plenty of library books that talk about the next chapter in your life.
