Interesting because it doesn't look like they are only targeting john's going after underage only.

Slowly with the NeoCons running Ontario it's going to be an attack on the industry.

London police will begin releasing the names of men charged with buying sex, a policy change for which a local women’s agency has pushed for the past decade.

Police Chief John Pare made the announcement at Thursday’s police board meeting following a presentation on human trafficking in London, a city identified as a hub for the crime because of its location along the Highway 401 between Toronto and the U.S. border.

Pare touted the naming of men who buy sex, known as johns, as a weapon in the fight against human trafficking, defined as the exploitation of people for profit through force, fraud or coercion.

“We’re trying to use all the tools that are available to us to combat human trafficking and this is just another step in that direction,” Pare said.

“This is our way to affect the demand (for prostitution) and enhance public safety for these victims of human trafficking. Really, this is just a warning to (sex buyers to) . . . make better choices in life.”

It's not the Neocons, they stated that they received a complaint.

Police have been pretty clear when it comes to the adult industry. They stay out until there is a complaint.

In this case if one victim of human traffic is saved, I say go for it. Post the pics and name on the front page of every news paper.

This action will be short lived for many reasons. Many power players buy sex, some of them may be signing the London Police Chief's pay cheque or be very good friends with some one who does. Also, assuming that that it is mostly males buying from females, some male on male even, the prostitutes risk being publicly outed. Also, the low hanging fruit johns whom may be outed, may expose higher ranking "untouchables". Going into an election year, some people may get a bit ancy. If this goes forward, the names of those charged may not be the same as those convicted, and if the wrong person is falsely charged and then acquitted, all hell will break loose for London LE and beyond.

More than one London SP has told me that their client lists include numerous London police officers. This could get interesting.

So here’s a thought: most civilian women seem to think men who see sex workers are disgusting, misogynistic, etc. (as misguided as that may be). So, if you name and shame, aren’t those men going to have a much harder time finding dates, relationships, and sex without paying for it? Aren’t you kind of locking people into a cycle where they’re essentially forced to pay for sex (or become incels) by outing them? Doesn’t that sort of completely run counter to the claim that such laws and policies decrease the demand for commercial sex?

Good point. The thing is most or all abolitionists are man haters who don't believe we deserve to even exist, let alone be involved in a relationship of any kind.

This WAS NOT police or your so called Neo Con driven- its not for profit women groups etc in London Ont getting funding grants so they have jobs to attack the sex industry as a whole- police HAVE SAID they not plan on listing all names of JOHNS, its the said women groups who are trying to demand/force them too

In Brampton Peel Police watched their budds go in and out of MPs, two guys doing the investigation were also customers. But they were not there for that, they had a complaint and had to be investigated. Had there been any truth to the complaint every person entering the establishment would have been arrested.

Please Gents remember, police action is complaint base, they have made it clear, they have told you.

You get done at a place where you shouldn't be, such as a place not zone for that activity or with out the proper license, you will get done if there is an ongoing investigation.

Stick to the safer places.

Name and shame the exploiters, not consensual adults.

Fuck you, Pare! Maybe YOU should make better choices if you actually want to help victims of human trafficking. Prick.

When Julian Fantino was police chief he frequently made pronouncements of this type. There was a letter in the London Free Press about it. The letter writer said that once a week Julian got out the thesaurus and looked up a new word or two and then got onto his soap box and made his speech about whatever, while the citizens quaked at his feet.
