Failed Progressive Conservative candidate Cameron Montgomery has landed a $140,000-a-year job chairing the agency that administers province-wide standardized testing for students — a post for which his predecessor earned less than $4,000 last year.

Montgomery’s appointment as chair of the board of directors at the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) marks the first time the position is a full-time job — a move that has drawn criticism.

The fact that it was a part time gig in the past is reflected in the drop in standardized test scores isn't it. This government is committed to getting our math and science scores on the uptick. I applaud the appointment he seems eminently qualified - 25 years as an educator and a PhD in educational psychology.

Ford is really looking out for the taxpayer's money, isn't he?
Taking a $4k job and turning it into $140k for his buddy.

Its $140k to install a partisan hack to attack schools so Ford can cut their funding.
I guess you failed to read Montgomery's resume and qualifications. Hardly a hack. And cutting funding for lack of effectiveness is a good thing. Lefties don't give a shit they just throw good money after bad without any controls or measurement of effectiveness. If companies operated that way they would go bankrupt.

Not unexpected from a former street hash dealer. That is how they operate as they just look after their buddies.
Also, Dumb DOFO must have never used any mouth wash or toothpaste, and probably rinsed his mouth with soap after he smoked a few joints:

Student protesters at Queen's Park 'should have their mouths washed out with soap,' Doug Ford says:

This is the quality of his advice!!

I guess the office for accountability in is not accountable to the taxpayers.

This is an amazing example of the gravy that Ford stands for.

I don't have a problem with spending $140K or whatever number so long as that person produces positive results year after year and doubly so if it's one of Ford's cronies. If he fails then Ford needs to fire him immediately. No long-drawn out inquiries, golden parachutes, etc.

Many corporations are hardly the pinnacle of good governance, quality or effectiveness. Of course the education system needs lots of improvement, but let's not measure it against corporations with a profit at all cost mentality.

Stuck in Lodi again
Sort of like giving a contract to Kinark the agency that Jane Rounthwaite (Kathleen Wynne's spouse) worked for and was also a 50% owner. But I'm sure that that was different, it was the Liberals that did that. No patronage or conflict of interest there.

The taxpayers of Ontario have been served notice. Their tax dollars are Doug Ford's and the PC party's piggy bank.

DoFo ( like Trump) loves the uneducated. How do you think he won? He just cancelled the free tuition for poor kids to ensure the next generation will stay poor and maybe even stupid enough to vote for Buck-a-Beer Doug!

I expect patronage appointments. It would be nice if the beneficiary had some experience in the area and didn't get a 400% raise over the previous appointee.
