I personally don't know how to do it but I think it is possible to partition your harddrive so that you can have both Win 7 and 10. I heard that some people prefer Win 7 over Win 10 but still like to have both available..is it easy to syc win7 and 10 as they are? or better to upgrade one of the systems to 10 and would they in turn sync better/ faster, etc?
Yes this can be done.I think it is possible to partition your harddrive so that you can have both Win 7 and 10. I heard that some people prefer Win 7 over Win 10 but still like to have both available..
I was offered free Win 10 by Microsoft but I was concerned that meant I lose Win 7. Was my concern unwarranted?Right now my main PC an i7 Dell bought back in 2009 has 5 OS's installed; W7, W10
If you do the upgrade from W7 to W10 you will lose your W7.I was offered free Win 10 by Microsoft but I was concerned that meant I lose Win 7. Was my concern unwarranted?
Curious, what is the size of your hard drive?Yes this can be done.
Right now my main PC an i7 Dell bought back in 2009 has 5 OS's installed; W7, W10 and 3 Linux versions and ALL 5 OS's run just as well as they did when new and first installed.
Is the additional SSD internal or external? I wish I knew this when the window (no pun intended) for the free Win 10 upgrade was available.I got the free upgrade to W10 but put it on an additional SSD allowing me to retain both W7 and W10.
Desktop has 3 internal drives;Curious, what is the size of your hard drive?
Would it not make more sense to have a separate VM for 4 of the OS and keep the latest as the main one; so one can run all simultaneously?
Have 3 internal drives. Is the additional SSD internal or external? I wish I knew this when the window (no pun intended) for the free Win 10 upgrade was available.
If I found it I could plug it into my PC and analyze its content safely with Linux to see what was in it.Not to sidetrack this thread but I have another question.
I found a USB drive. I have no clue who is the owner. What should I do?
a) Throw it in the garbage.
b) Plug it in my computer and open the drive.
c) Plug it in my computer and perform a format.
d) None of the above.
Yes, the window to get free Windows 10 is closed. Darn, if I had known there was a way to get the free Windows 10 and still keep my Windows 7, I would have done that (assuming I actually know how to do it).Have 3 internal drives.
When W10 first came out there was a times span that allowed you do get W10 for free if you had W7 or W8. Think that time has expired by now.
I have Windows 7. I think I'll just do a format. That should get rid of any nasties. If I felt safe (and I don't) I would open the USB drive to see if there is something that would identify the owner and call him/her. (That is how I returned a couple of wallets I found.)If I found it I could plug it into my PC and analyze its content safely with Linux to see what was in it.
With a Windows PC this may be risky in case there are some nasties in it that could potentially cause your Windows PC problems.
