First time north of the border...

Greetings from your southern neighbor!

I'll be visiting soon, and as I look through this amazing resource for an interesting diversion, I realize there are some significant differences in the information available here and what I am used to. I imagine many of them are cultural (we have a tendency to be, ummm, quite prude, and very rude - as a generalization) so in order not to offend and to be a good guest, I come hat in hand looking for some mentoring.

If one of you lovely readers wouldn't mind dropping me a PM so I can pose some questions, it would be much appreciated. I will gladly accept input from either side of the conversation. Additionally, I would be glad to share what I know of our industry.

My general question is around tipping/service in the area spas - here in the DC area we have what we consider "standard" expectations, both from the client and MA perspective. The last thing I want is to visit a spa unprepared and create a potentially awkward situation (especially as a guest to your city).

Well, I promised to report back, so here we go!
I did my homework, read through the threads, and properly scheduled two appointments for my week long visit (Monday and Thursday). Both appts were confirmed the day of via text and DM. Monday's appt was an out (20 min away), and when I requested an address there was no response. Fifteen minutes before the scheduled time, I received a text cancelling the appointment due to a pet-based emergency. Ok, fine - I have pets and understand - but it's now nearly 9PM and I need a backup plan. No worries, thanks to the fine members of this board - a quick call to Brass and Plan B is in action. I have to admit, I am jealous of you folks - clubs like Brass are a step above (well, more like three steps above) anything in my area. Quick membership application and introduction to an amazing team of beauties, and my session began with the lovely Karlie. Monday was in the books.

I DM'd and texted through the week with my Thursday MA/SP, a little flirty, nice text based convo...I scheduled an incall at my hotel, and was looking forward to a relaxing evening. Thursday morning came, and she texted we were set and she would contact me when she was inbound. I was well pleased with the professionalism...and then 4 hours before our appointment, I get the text cancelling. WTF? I was sure I had been cursed. SO, I hit the board again, trying to pull a last minute unicorn out of a hat. I apologize to all MA/SP's reading this - I know last minute scheduling is generally frowned upon. But there are some amazing folks out there who, even though were unable to accommodate, made suggestions and tried to help me out. I the end, I decided to take advantage of the club I had joined earlier in the week, and scheduled another appt at Brass (with the stunning Layla), and put Thursday in the books.

Monday's MA is now dark (twitter page is gone and no response to text), but I have a feeling I'll get a rain check for Thursday on my next visit.

All in all, it was a great trip and I can't say enough about the staff at Brass - from Brie at reception to the beautiful MA's. They really made me feel welcom and I will absolutely schedule another session.
