FX is giving HBO a run for its money in the daring department. Fosse/Verdon is the second chapter that began with Feud (Bette Davis vs Joan Crawford).

Bob Fosse was a hard living genius of stage and screen, the four films he made between 1969 - 79 are all classics (Sweet Charity, Cabaret, Lenny and All That Jazz), he died barely making 60 in 87. Gwen Verdon was the principal dancer of his Broadway shows, most notably Chicago. I hated the film version, they castrated Fosse's vision for a PG - 13 and the annoying Renee Zellweger sucked very hard as Verdon.

Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams play the title roles....a vast improvement over Suckweger!

Roy Scheider played Fosse in All That Jazz, a very dark autobiographical film. Fosse forshadowed his own death. Rockwell has very big shoes to fill.

...although if The Grim Reaper looks like a young Jessica Lange, I'd be happy to go.

Such an amazing movie, which could not be made today. Fosse would have been branded with the "toxic masculinity" label, #metoo, etc.

Sad but true. It was Fosse's toxic masculinity that allowed him to understand how females moved better than anyone else. How can anyone forget Sandahl Bergman's sexy pilot in All That Jazz or Valerie Parrine as Honey Bruce in Lenny. Rob Marshall certainly didn't understand it, Chicago was downright clunky, although Catherine Zeta Jones did her best.

Thanks! Loved the Davis/Crawford series, most Ryan Murphy stuff, All That Jazz and Lenny.

Fosse will live on and did a great job with Single Ladies from the grave

Fosse was a pill popping womanizer, but no one understood women like he did. Perfectly understandable why Beyonce would pay tribute to him. That is something Marshall missed in his mediocre version of Chicago.

Some say Liza Minnelli was the product of nepotism, her parents were Vincente Minnelli (An American in Paris) and Judy Garland. Not entirely true, she had to work for her fame. Fosse pushed her very hard, almost to the point of a nervous breakdown.

Joel Grey was excellent in Oz.

Whatever happened to Sandahl Bergman? She went on to play the Warrior Woman in Arnold's Conan, after that, nothing.
