I'm turning 47 and notice I eat less but gained pounds over the last few years. Still workout on a regular basis but the pounds crept on. I admit I still made poor food choices but the amount I ate is less when I was in my 20's and 30's.

Took some bloodwork just in case there's something wrong with my thyroids. But definitely want to shed some weight as Type 2 diabetes scares the shit out of me.

Anyone else notice a slowdown on their metabolism?

It's perfectly natural. You have to work that much harder to keep the pounds off or to loose any extra ones as you age.

What you are saying about yourself is the normal process of aging for most people.

I look at public figures as they age and they do tend to get bigger. I saw Doc Halladay (RIP) shortly before he passed and I was shocked. He was no longer the lean, mean pitching machine but was starting to show signs of being overweight. I also saw some movies of Marlon Brando from when he was in his 20's into his 60's and 70's and he was a huge 400 lbs when he passed.

Question: Do you find your neck, hands and feet getting larger?

Update edit: Take it easy on the physical exercise as you get older. Clark Gable tried to impress a young Marilyn Manroe by doing his own stunts in the movie and died of a heart attack.

"The next day, Gable had a heart attack. Eleven days later, he died. Although many felt the physical strain of his role in The Misfits was responsible,"

In the same boat. Start doing a lot of cardio.
It has a huge impact on your life and health. Good reason to get a dog if you can take care of it.

Cardio is known to decrease your testosterone and increase your stress hormones.

Here are some examples of what increases and decreases your testosterone levels ...

It starts at 4:43

Yes.
Could eat entire pizzas or half a cow in one sitting never gain fat in my younger competitive sport days. Now just spy a pizza out of the corner of my eye and gotta hit the treadmill.

Metabolism does slow down after 25
- The fact is working out is great for everything but fat loss . Fat loss is entirely tied to the right diet and consistency .

Get your testosterone levels checked. Low testosterone levels reduce your metabolism.

Your only noticing this at 47 or close to? Count your blessings. A lot of us have noticed this much earlier, lol.

Only suggestion I might be able to give, go vegetarian... maybe? I couldn't do it, but do have some friends who are and they really do look great for their age. Good luck on finding the right answer.

Although it is correlated with your calories intake
which decrease as you age metabolism decline is not
something you can monitor precisely. A better measure
of the extent of physical decline is your cum volume.
I visit MPs for therapeutic relief as often as once or
twice a week in my 20's. Now it takes much longer
to replenish my sperm tank for a sufficiently intense
happy ending that I only hobby as often as once in
a month.

I do believe it is true that as you get older you eat less and pack one the weight easier. I can no longer eat/drink whatever I want, when I want. I eat at the same time regularly and cut out the snacks during the day or in the evening. Once in a while you can indulge yourself. No doughnuts with your coffee. A special snack in the evenings no more than once a week, and alcohol counts as calories as well.

You should have a look at Tom Brady's book. TB12. I wont say to buy a 200$ bioceramic pyjamas but what he explains makes sense. It might help you understand your body better and work out better.

Shit, I noticed the change in my body at age 28. I was still very active: skateboard at the local skate park a couple times a month, surf at least 4 times a week, and jogged regularly before going to work, and still developed a gut. I remember talking with my co workers at age 26 and telling them no matter how much I ate or whatever I ate, I would never get fat. 2 years later, I'm eating crow of course. I'm 44 now and I'm constantly watching my diet cause I'm not that physically active--what it is to be young. Can't cum for shit either too. In my 20's, I could cum at least 2-3 times in a hour, with each subsequent release weaker than the previous. Now my refraction period takes at least a couple of days or maybe even a week or two to generate a strong orgasmic discharge.

The best solution for this problem is more sex...unfortunately many men after the age of 30 significantly decrease this activity and quickly get themselves into a downward spiral. Then everything after this falls off and we keep playing catch up. Obviously some men have better genetics, but I think sex is key to all this, then diet, then exercise.
