So the Amish don't get vaccinated and autism occurs 1 in 16,000 We get vaccinated and we have rates of 1 in 56. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure maybe, just maybe, something is not right.
Yes, if that was the only difference between the two groups. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that maybe, just maybe, there are more differences between the Amish and others other than just vaccination.

Also seems quite likely that Amish children aren’t evaluated as often and thus, aren’t diagnosed as often. Amish people are also quite insular and tend to marry within their own community. It’s possible that there are genetic factors that lead to autism that aren’t common within their gene pool. There are any number of reasons why this could be the case (assuming those numbers are even accurate, which they likely aren’t), but sure, pick the one that happens to fit your narrative.

Correlation does not equal causation. What about that is so hard for you types to understand?

The thing is....you don't develop autism, it's something you're born with so I don't understand how vaccinations have anything to do with it...

Tbh I was autistic (aspergers) before I ever got my chicken pox vaccine.

But also I don't see why people bring up autism as an argument against vaccinations. My brain just works differently, I'm not contagious, I'm not harming myself or others, I actually think it makes me a more evolved person because my senses are more sensitive. I feel like the people who make this argument have never actually met an autistic person before...we're not all like "Rainman" a lot of us seem very "allistic" (term for non - autistic people).

But in the grand scheme of things I thing I would rather live my life as an autistic person than die of the mumps, Spanish flu, hepatitis, or HIV (Prep is an HIV vaccination which makes you immune to the HIV virus)...but that's just me.
See, here’s someone who knows what she’s talking about. You don’t just magically develop autism, you’re born with it. Many people simply aren’t diagnosed until later in their lives. This is because Autism is a spectrum and the symptoms (if you can call them that) can be very different depending on the severity of the condition in the specific individual. One of my good buddies has Asperger’s and you’d never know it unless he told you.

This is also why autism rates have supposedly “skyrocketed” in recent years. The definition of what constitutes an autistic spectrum disorder has been updated. Thus, more people who may not have fit the definition of autistic before now do, hence the numbers going up.

Absolutely, the obvious conclusion should be that its the Amish lack of cars that keep them free from autism.
Bigsleasy, stop driving and going in cars immediately, otherwise you're going to get autism!

Phew, that was close.

LMAO!! Yup, like being born with cancer too, right??? LOL!!!

Through the womans full pregnancy, shes checked out numerous times. Doctor tells her the baby is healthy....at birth, same thing. Months to a few years later child develops cancer and woman is told child was born with it. WHAT??????

Either the doctors are idiots or there is a problem somewhere?

If you are born with a defect, it shows up in tests and ultra sounds or difficult pregnancy or something along those lines. To be told everything is NORMAL and it isnt till after the birth and being told the child was born that way doesnt add up.

At birth, doctors start injecting needles into the baby. Do you think there might be something at that time that caused an issue with the baby??? I know, a few members will say no because they there is NO WAY it was caused by modern medicine and its 100% safe for EVERYONE and blah...blah...blah.......SMH

Ah, so you don't believe that its lack of vaccines that are keeping the Amish from autism?
Just healthy eating?

But then it should be easy to supply studies showing diet links to autism.

Personally, I think that its the fact that the Amish don't use cars that keep them free from autism.
You should stop driving immediately.

By the way...
Measles outbreak grows in area with low vaccination rate, most patients unimmunized

Buddy, what the heck are trying to say? You dont make sense.

Amish dont vaccinate!nI totally agree its because of lack of western vaccines at a small age in a short window of time! Thats what i've been trying to tell you!!!

Lack of cars is why they dont get autism??? (spit my tea out on that one LMAO).... You think exhaust doesnt go to their neighborhoods???

Boy oh boy, I see your logic.

Please stop talkning to people. You are doing nothing but harming and insulting their intelligence...... you totally make complete sense.

See, you and BS just came to the wrong conclusion based on a casual fallacy.
Obviously its cars that cause autism.

Oh boy.

The only things cars do is emit monoxide which poisons your blood and kills you if you inhale enough of it.

Pumping gasoline and smelling the fumes WILL give Leukemia.

How do cars give you autism or pass it down to the unborn or young????

So, there’s someone here who has said she has an autistic spectrum disorder, who has lived it, who has gone through the process of diagnosis, has spoken to doctors, and you’re saying she’s wrong and you’re better informed about the disorder she has than she is, because you’ve been reading tinfoil hat conspiracy nonsense for years?

Well ain’t that some shit.

Assuming you are not just a troll

You can't diagnose ASD in a child too young to communicate

It's not a magic "test"

Its based on observations over time

Doctors also do not "stick needles" in a child under 3
Even a flu vaccine is a drink for children that young
Most of this is either trolling or (thankfully) proof you never had a child

You know that the whole premise to this thread is factually incorrect, right?

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/the-amish-dont-get-autism/

The Amish do vaccinate their children (albeit at a lower rate than the broader population) and they do get autism.

Sometimes when someone spouts shit, it's maybe a good idea to just ignore them. The fat guy from Hamilton and the biggest sleaze are both dicks and should be put on ignore.

So exactly what I said. Less genetic diversity and fewer children being evaluated by doctors, leading to fewer diagnoses.

YES!! And the autism rates have been growing exponentially for female folx because for a long time people assumed that it was just something that little boys got. I was diagnosed when I was 26 (I'm 29 now)...had I been diagnosed as a child my life would have been COMPLETELY different.
Exponentially is a bit much
I think you misspoke

Still it does effect boys more often than girls for whatever reason

How does one get diagnosed with autism? I've seen people who are totally normal average person and you couldn't tell of they were autistic unless if they told me.
