As per Zaibetter's thread about Rehab Dughmosh...it sounds like Hussain was a junkie that was into Right Wing conspiracy theories, rather than him being some radicalized Islamist. Sorry Terb's alt-right, he was actually on your team.

Toronto mass shooter Faisal Hussain had AK-47 ammunition, 9/11 conspiracy DVDs in bedroom: police documents

Toronto police officers searching the bedroom of gunman Faisal Hussain after his deadly mass shooting in Toronto’s Danforth neighbourhood discovered a large trove of ammunition and magazines for more powerful guns than the pistol found after the rampage, newly released police documents say.

Also recovered in Hussain’s bedroom were several DVDs in the conspiracy theory genre, including by Alex Jones, the right-wing conspiracy buff behind the Infowars website.

On July 22, 2018, Hussain shot and killed 10-year-old Julianna Kozis and 18-year-old Reese Fallon along the popular stretch of cafes and restaurants; 13 others were injured, some seriously.

Hussain’s shooting spree ended when he died after a shootout with police. The documents confirm Hussain “killed himself with a gunshot wound to the head.”

What police found in their search of an apartment at 43 Thorncliffe Park Dr., where Hussain lived with his parents, provides some answers about the incident but raises further questions.

Only one gun — a handgun — was found with Hussain at the scene and witnesses and video of the attack show him firing only a pistol, that he reloaded several times.

The ammunition and gun clips for weapons not found with Hussain raise the prospect that powerful illegal weapons are missing.

The gun-related materials itemized and seized by police include two fully loaded magazines for an AK-47 rifle; two drum magazines that appeared full of ammunition; three loaded extended gun magazines; two loaded magazines for a 9mm handgun; and two socks filled with loose handgun and shotgun ammunition.

Police also found a soft rifle case and a gun box with inset foam in the shape of a handgun, but no gun. A trigger guard, white powder believed to be cocaine, and “an Islamic head dress” were also found.

“Firearm magazines and a large amount of ammo were located for firearm types that were not recovered at the scene. Specifically, the AK-47 and shotgun ammunition were located in a drawer,” a Toronto police officer writes in one court document.

“It is reasonable to believe that when fully loaded magazines are located, there would be a firearm or firearm parts within the residence to fire that ammunition and locating that firearm and ammunition would provide further evidence of planning and preparation of the offence and prevent any further concerns for public safety.”

The police documents filed in court to support their request for search warrants, called an Information to Obtain (ITO), say that immediately after Hussain’s death, his cell phone rang with the contact name “Home” displayed as the caller. Officers answered it and spoke with his parents.

Officers then rushed to the Hussain apartment and, as an emergency situation, entered without a warrant with an explosive-sniffing dog. The dog signalled attention to a drawer under a sleigh bed in a bedroom at the end of the apartment’s hallway.

Inside the drawer, officers saw the ammunition cache and left, waiting for judicial authorization to search.

An initial request was denied by a justice of the peace, citing several shortcomings including a blanket request for “electronic devices” that was too broad, documents say.

Several subsequent applications were approved.

One search warrant was to look for guns, ammunition, identification documents, cell phones, documents related to planning or preparation, supplies to build a bomb, and any documents depicting “hate, extremism, terrorism or similar belief or following.”

Another was to look for drugs. The search did find “a white powdery substance in a Ziploc bag” in the drawer under the bed that officers believed to be cocaine.

Police say they found several DVDs, namely: “9/11 In Plane Site,” “The Road to Tyranny,” “Terror Storm,” “Painful Deception,” “American Dictators,” “Iraq For Sale,” “Weapon of Mass Deception” and “What is Islama.” The last title has a handwritten label on it.

The Plane Site video contends the 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon were an inside job by the U.S. government; Road to Tyranny by Jones contends that “Global Government” funded the attack to create a crisis justifying the suspension of liberties, according to reviews.

Also found were “receipts paid in cash to Abad Co-operative Housing Society Ltd for Mosque Fund, Membership fee, transfer, pillars and forms fees located in Rawalpindi,” the police document says, adding: “The receipt was for Mrs. Fakhira Sultana and they were for the amounts of $1,000 and $8,310.”

The receipts are not explained in the documents.

A number of electronics were also seized, including several cell phones, two iPads, video and digital cameras, a USB memory stick and two laptops.

It has been 208 days since the evening rampage and information on the case has been sparse, largely, officials said, because Hussain’s engagement with police triggered a probe by the province’s Special Investigations Unit, which investigates incidents of death or serious injury during an interaction with police.

The findings of the SIU investigation have not been released.

The ITO documents filed in court were initially sealed and then partially released with redactions. A court application led Tuesday to more — but not all — of the information being unsealed.

The Danforth shooting became even more controversial after Islamic State, responsible for waging war in Iraq and supporting terrorist attacks in the West, claimed responsibility for the shooting but offered no proof of a link and the claim remains dubious.

At the time, Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said the claim did not match what their investigation so far had uncovered.

That is why the extreme right wing terrorism is on the rise, and is of the biggest concern at the moment. Wonder whether the alt right media like The Rebel will now consider these findings to be a "Conspiracy Theory"?

Now National Post is "tripe"? A right wing leaning news media that report that fact is now "fake" as it is not what the right wingers want to accept!!
National Post is not tripe. But the comments by posters here suggesting he is somehow alt right is tripe. You don't think extreme Islamists/leftists believe 9//11 was a hoax as an excuse to invade the ME? He donated thousands of dollars to a radical mosque in Pakistan. We still don't know for sure what his motives were and maybe we never will. Why did he leave a whole arsenal of guns and ammunition behind for instance?

He was also motivated by the extreme right wing Alex Jones / Info wars who are the major conspiracy theorists of 9/11. There is absolutely no proof that the the donation made to the Teacher Fakhira Sultana was for a "radical" mosque. In fact it was to the Co-operative Housing Society for their Mosque Fund. Show us if Fakhira Sultana is a radical teacher associated with a "radical" mosque as this is her:

Yes, we do not know his motives, but his family members have claimed Hussain suffered from severe mental health challenges. He was regarded by police as an emotionally disturbed person and had been linked to three police incidents prior to the shooting, but had no criminal record. He had been arrested for shoplifting and subsequently granted an unconditional release two days prior to the attack:

ISIS even claimed responsibility for the shooting, but the police have found no evidence linking him with them. No doubt he was a very confused individual who conducted this hideous act of killings, and the police were right to take him out when they did so. Besides the guns he also left a stash of cocaine. Could you tell us why he did so??
