Have you ever tried getting a loan with no income and no savings?

RE: your question regarding seasonal work, etc... I COMPLETELY agree with you.
In my industry I am exposed to a shit load of seasonal workers. We have to continually have job postings for positions that we know no locals will be willing to fill, just to satisfy the labour laws. Seasonal workers actually cost more than local workers.
But, locals (in Canada and the US), are 'too good' to do this work. So here we are.
Although, to be fair, the seasonal workers, individually can basically do the work of 3 or 4 local workers, and they will do it happily.
How do students get loans without income or savings? You don't need to be 19 to get a student loan.

The reason you cannot compare small countries to USA is that USA spends a couple of trillion dollars on military around the world instead of spending funds on welfare for it's own citizens. If that is how the ruling class want to spend their taxes, they should bloody well have to pay the full amount, and not loan a trillion dollars every year.

The bailout by Obama and the tax cuts by Trump are equally outrageous.
The military is a big part of their economy and provides a lot of jobs, it won't be easy to make cuts.

Of course they do, half of Americans don't pay taxes now, they are probably the ones voting for the raise in taxes the get something for nothing crowd. They want driven successful people to pay their way, pathetic.
Many of those driven successful people got rich by dodging their taxes.

Why would anybody vote for Communism ?
Man you're stuck in the sleazy past. For a hundred years they have used the communist bugaboo to fund the mil-indust-complex which afforded them their imperial hegemony. But now there is little left. Even China which is politically and nominally communist is beating the US at their own capitalist game. Americans are about to wake up to find out that a single payer health insurance system, which they have derided for ages as "communist", actually works better. So yes, "communism" is better for your health. Only that it will be called "medicare for all".

"Clinton lost the election because she failed to convince working-class voters that she would be able to understand and address their growing grievances. While she started her journey as a young, educated, idealistic feminist believing in social justice and equality, over the course of her life in the political limelight,"

C'mon dude, Hillary started her journey as a Goldwater gal. Remember that mad man from Arizona who wanted to "nuke the bastard vietcong and bring our boys back home in honour?"

This person is dangerous.

If this was China, she would be under arrest.

:ambivalence:
That is what I find hillariously funny: the right wing conservatives wish for a system like in China, while denouncing China as the arch enemy. Of "our" way of living.

This is not funny.

She is dangerous.

AOC wants to give power to the people. Along with money to the people.

You got to keep the people under control. No bullshit.

You need police and proper enforcement. You need prisons. You need to make people understand you cannot cross certain lines, or else. And if the people don't listen to that, well then, just keep them distracted, that will work too.

If the people are in control, it is just government of mob.

Although there are fundamental differences between China and America, the practical aspects of keeping people under control is the same.

You do not want the people mobilized.

Especially the AOC supporters mobilized. They will destroy American capitalism.

Besides Confederate statutes.

It is one of those things, where it is suppose to be not funny, it still is, lolz.

You don’t get rich by dodging your taxes, you get rich and then you dodge your taxes. Half don’t pay, 2% dodge, 20% get hammered.

AOC is an out of touch socialist. But she did defy the odds and win the nomination over a powerful Un-Democrat so she should not be taken lightly. She does have appeal, particularly to younger voters who have been indoctrinated into thinking that socialism is preferable to capitalism.

Good argument for raising taxes on the rich.
Raising taxes by a small amount would be fine but to tax them 50 to 70% is ridiculous. There are many factors at play here which no one takes into consideration. First if you tax the rich at they high a rate it will discourage them to do things that are already good for society, rich people are the biggest players in the stock market, start taxing their capital gains and dividends at 70% and that goes away, because now the risk outweighs the reward, why take the risk of buying a stock when if you make the right call you lose 70% of your profit? Not to mention the venture capitalists, will they continue to invest in start ups if 70% of their profit will be taken away. Second, rich people are the biggest donors to charities, that will go away if they are taxed at a 50-70% rate, so it depends on where you prefer that money go. To children's hospitals, hospitals in general, red cross, there are so many that benefit from big donors, or would you have the money go to poor people who can work but don't or don't make enough to pay taxes. I'm assuming most of us on TERB hobby because we enjoy it and have some disposable income. Ask yourself would you be willing to give up your hobby and give that money to help the poor. Don't ask someone to do what you're not willing to do yourself.

That is hillarious.

You want us to rely on the goodness of rich people instead of taxation. Do you also rely on the forbearance of reptiles?

No i'm not , are you disputing that fact that most of the money charities get are from wealthy people? Tax them at 70% and see what happens to charities. I'm asking where would you prefer rich people's money to go, who would you allocated it to? Give me an answer instead of smart ass remarks. I'm sure you have disposable income, why don't you give that to someone else for the betterment of society. It's easy for you to give someone else's money away. Do you hobby? Why don't you donate or give that to some of the poor people you are advocating for.

I believe in taxation to fund necessary social and welfare programs. I support a progressive taxation scale, where the rich pays substantially more than the poor.

It is the responsibility of a rich society as ours to take care of the disadvantaged in society. They should not have to rely on charities to survive.
