No i'm not , are you disputing that fact that most of the money charities get are from wealthy people? Tax them at 70% and see what happens to charities. I'm asking where would you prefer rich people's money to go, who would you allocated it to? Give me an answer instead of smart ass remarks. I'm sure you have disposable income, why don't you give that to someone else for the betterment of society. It's easy for you to give someone else's money away. Do you hobby? Why don't you donate or give that to some of the poor people you are advocating for.
Charities are a crappy substitute for good social services.

I believe in taxation to fund necessary social and welfare programs. I support a progressive taxation scale, where the rich pays substantially more than the poor.

It is the responsibility of a rich society as ours to take care of the disadvantaged in society. They should not have to rely on charities to survive.
I believe in a progressive taxation scale as well, but not to ask people to give more than half of there income, that's ridiculous, she's advocating for 70% which is a joke. You cited Germany as a successful social Democracy yet their highest tax rate for the richest is 45%, should they raise theirs to 70%? What about here in Canada should we raise ours to 70%? How about asking government to stop wasteful spending which happens all the time? Maybe cut foreign aid so we can give Canadians a better life instead of giving it to countries who are corrupt and don't give a shit about us unless we are giving them a handout.

Charities do away better job of efficient spending than any government agency does, just look at all the wasteful spending by our leaders, the last entity I would ever trust when it comes to efficient spending is the government

The 70% would be the top MARGINAL tax rate. In general, the rich pays no higher percentage tax rates than middle income people, because of the army of accountants who dedicate their lives to reduce taxes for the rich.

People who have only salaried income are the ones getting shafted, not the rich.

Well then she's not very informed is she? Why not change the tax code to get rid of certain deductions only the rich get away with as opposed to raising taxes. Raising the tax rate to 70% would be meaningless because all those loopholes and deductions would still exist, I don't know of many salaried people make over $10 million a year except athletes, entertainers and some CEO's, and those people could change their contracts to avoid those penalties by asking portions of it to be in bonuses or deferments in order to avoid that bracket. she didn't think this through
