    Should really be a Leaf.

    I agree.

At $9 million a season, no thanks.

I agree, but his contract is too prohibitive.

What am I missing, why should he be a leaf?

He did grow up in Richmond Hill

Leafs can’t afford him. Especially since Rielly will require a massive raise in a few years once his current contract is up.

He is Not well liked and a tough personality to blend into a team. The current line up is getting along very well. Can’t see how it would be a good idea at any price. Also his style of play is opposite of what Babcock demands

    Amazing shot
    Great defence
    What more do you want
But I do agree to much money to absorb now
Also who says Nashville wants him out

The op is just stating he wishes he was, even though they had no chance to draft him. Him and babs don't get along so it really is a pipe dream. They missed out on Wayne Simmons the same draft year as did many other teams, he sure would add some nice grit, as opposed to the current cast of teddy bears.

Meanwhile the Leafs are paying a guy $10 million for this year who sat out the first two months and has scored exactly 1 goal.

Nylander's (Willie) cap hit (A.A.V.) this season is $10,277,778.
His A.A.V. for the next 5 seasons is $6,962,366.

Noted. But my post was in response to the comment that Nylander was being paid $10 million/year.

Simmons, yes. The Leafs could really use a player like that. PK is a bit overrated. He plays tough and there is a positive consensus on him,but he does get rattled in his own zone and certainly cannot put the team over the hump. Would not trade for him to the Leafs. A defensive player must see the ice a lot better. Trading for him means acquiring another Dion Phaneuf. Still, top four defenseman, but what do you need to give up?

I can’t see it happening. I’m hoping that the Leafs trade away Zaitsev for another defenceman or goaltender. But regardless they should Gardiner. They’ll be lucky if they get a bag of pucks for #51

^yeah, because he's black. There's still too much racism in hockey. The shit I would hear spewed about black players when I was playing hockey was ridiculous.

Couldn't do anything about it as a white guy because it was a violation of some unwritten rule yet it was just so wrong.

What really? I figured we had broken the colour barrier already!
