I used Windows Paint to block out certain areas of a few photos that I emailed to a friend.

Question: Is it possible for someone to "unblock" the blocked areas to reveal what was originally in the photos?

yes. There is inexpensive software that can do this by background reproduction. So they might be able to see birdie

Damn! I also cropped some of the photos. Surely, if I crop out the naughty bits, there is no way they can restore the cropped out parts, right? Please say yes.

Another question: Does this mean that escorts who blur or block their faces in their photos can also be unmasked?

BTW: That dog in your sig pic has too much skin.

i've never tried either or. Just know software exists to do this, but my guess, cropped photos or just body shots can not be reproduced

don't think that dog is circumcised

If you paint a black bar, for example, over an image with software like Paint, Photoshop, etc. then save it as a format like BMP, GIF, PNG, JPG, etc. then no one can remove it after. The same goes for cropping a photo. In both cases, you've permanently changed the pixel information inside the file.

If you paint or apply effects on a new layer in Photoshop, save it as a PSD (Photoshop native format) then someone else can disable those effects and see what is beneath. If you have an image file like BMP, GIF, PNG, JPG etc file, advanced in Photoshop and recognize the effect someone used on an image like Gaussian blur then it is possible to reverse it somewhat, but it will never be perfect.

I hope you are not trying to design something for the office with Paint?
No, I blocked out certain body parts in photos that I then used Tinypic (before it died) to host and then post to TERB. I was just curious whether some geek could "unblock" what I blocked. Anyway, I notice that all my Tinypic pics have now been replaced with cartoons.

On Apple, you just ask siri to "enhance photo" and keep yelling enhance until the image is fully reconstructed. Not sure if that is possible on a non Apple devices.

I always select the area I want to "hide" and then cut the selection out of the image so it is no longer visible rather than cover it with another color, or you can crop if that works too.
