To go to law school. Fortunately, I followed one of my lawyer friend's advice who persuaded me NOT to do it. 15 years later, I am glad I followed my friend's advice. I would have come out with $100,000+ in student debt that would have added immense stress to my life. I was never interested in the profitable areas of law, corporate, securities, business, etc. but more inclined towards the less profitable ones. I tend to follow people's advice, particularly from friends whom I respect a lot and who I know have my interest in mind.
The best advice I ever got was from the late Fred Zed. He indicated that one should not believe a word on this site. Roll your own and believe no one except yourself.
I personally, don't believe any of the bullshit that poses as advice here and I can't believe that some of the incels want it. For instance, asking for medical, legal or financial advice here. Are these guys nuts? Who knows?
I was told to invest in Bre-X, I didn't follow up. I liked him enough but he was too much of an anal retentive Frank Burns type for me to take seriously.
Once, during pillow talk with an SP she asked me about my civilian love life. I was 19 at the time and still in the 'wah, I got friendzoned' mindset.
Anyhow, I told the SP about this girl I really liked who couldn't get past seeing me as just a friend. Her serious response was "just grab her one day and kiss her, that should change things."
Even years before the #MeToo Movement, that sounded like absolutely abominable advice and I thankfully did not follow it.
Bitcoin. Also a bloke telling me not to take a promotion cuz it will "put you in a higher tax bracket." Turns out he knows nothing about taxes. Thankfully did not take his advice. Another bad piece: "women like guys who smell a little funky. Turns them on." In fact, no shortage of really bad advice about women.

Tried hitting on a biker's girlfriend once in a bar, in front of him. Luckily he took pity on me. When he stood up to leave, he gently put his helmet on my head and gently slammed it down with his fist.
