This new poll that shows Quebeckers don't want to pay for a carbon tax should be mandatory reading for politicians everywhere.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/bus...ebeckers-dont-want-to-pay-for-the-carbon-tax/

It confirms the same thing other polls have shown.

Basically, when you ask people an abstract question about whether they would be willing to do their part to fight "climate change," most people will say yes. After all, everyone loves to look virtuous.

But when you start asking about real cost-of-living increases using specific numbers, the support drops faster than Macron's popularity numbers.

The reality is people don't support carbon pricing, regardless of what some abstract polls might suggest.
The reality is its going to be cheaper to put in a carbon tax then deal with the costs from extreme weather, crop failure and mass migration caused by climate change.

The reality is that's not going to happen. And any carbon tax ends up in the general coffers.

The reality is there's no economic analysis to support that statement and nobody believes it.

And why should they believe it?

Even if you think the world must reduce its emissions, it's impossible to believe the estimated 0.001% reduction in emissions after 13 years of the Trudeau government's currently scheduled carbon tax is going to produce any measurable cost savings.
