Ours are climbing too, yet we have strict gun laws , I ask you again what do you attribute that to, I see you didn't answer the question the first time I asked you that
I see you are completely unable to support your claim that open carry reduces crime. Fact is that the states with the most gun crimes are open carry states and the states with strict gun laws have the lowest gun crime rates.

Exactly if others have guns then you need one to protect yourself, ...
Except the vast, vast majority of Americans NEVER have the need to use their gun for protection. Therefore the belief they need a gun is paranoia.

I never said it reduces crime. 31 states have open carry and they are not the top 31 states when it comes to gun crimes. 3 of the worst, Illinois, South Carolina and the District of Columbia have high rates of gun crimes and yet have among the strictest gun laws in the whole country. It can serve as a deterrent , your right most Americans don't have to use there guns yet so many people have them, why is that, is it paranoia like you suggest or because they have that right and wan't to protect themselves, it's like insurance, are you paranoid if you have insurance? You still didn't answer my question to you. We have strict gun laws yet our gun crimes are rising quite fast, why is that?

You said it was a deterrent. The data clearly doesn't support that. In fact it shows the opposite.

And I posted actual links to gun crime rates that showed that all of the most dangerous states are open carry.

As for insurance, the chances of needing car insurance are far higher than the chances of needing a gun during a mass shooting. And as I said, the only people feel the paranoid need to to carry guns because they think every other person with a gun is a threat. Getting rid of open carry means there will be far fewer people to be paranoid about.

I said it can be a deterrent , Chicago and Washington D.C have the strictest gun laws in the states, yet they have the highest rate of gun crimes so your theory isn't correct. Are you paranoid if you have house and life insurance or lock your doors when you go to sleep? No it's about safety, if you live in a state that is open carry it would be wise to carry one as well. I see you won't answer my question as to why our gun crimes have risen dramatically, our laws haven't changed and are strict yet our guns crimes continue to rise, I assume you won't answer because it doesn't back up your point of view or narrative.

I said it can be a deterrent ....
Yet obviously it isn't.

Your theory was that open carry acts as a deterrent but the stats show the opposite.

p.s. Despite all the fear-mongering about Chicago, Illinois ranks as the 34th most dangerous state for gun violence according to the article I posted. Meanwhile all the most violent states have the most lax gun laws.

Because it is easy to smuggle guns from the US.

Speaking of not answering questions, you have yet to explain why open carry states have the highest rates of gun crimes.

Here you go violent crime is 23% lower in open carry states and the murder rate is 5% lower, these numbers are from the DOJ. The reason gun crimes are higher in open carry states is that most of those states are the poorest and have high suicide rates. New statistics were released yesterday. 60% of gun crimes are suicides, I don't know why but they count suicide as a crime so the numbers are skewed, Here is the article showing it's safer to live in an open carry state.

Like I said criminals and people with bad intentions will always be able to get guns regardless of how tough the law is.
