GOP Adviser Rips Into Brian Kemp For Stealing The Georgia Election: ‘He Cheated & Undermined Democracy’

Jason Weaver did what many Republicans never do.

Written By NewsOne Staff

Stacey Abrams losing the race Georgia race for governor doesn’t just have Democrats outraged, even Republicans are speaking out against Brian Kemp‘s clear corruption.

Jason Weaver is a Texas native who was a political strategist for former president George H.W. Bush and a presidential campaign adviser to the John McCain. It doesn’t get anymore Republicans than this and he said about Brian Kemp, “This hack @BrianKempGA is the next ‘governor*’ of Georgia. But he cheated & undermined democracy every step of the way. @staceyabrams should be governor, but isn’t due to actions that can’t be tolerated. She has a bright future. We need a new, enforceable Voting Rights Act. Now!”

Yesterday, Abrams acknowledged that Kemp won the election, but she did not concede, saying, “I acknowledge that former Secretary of State Brian Kemp will be certified as the victor in the 2018 gubernatorial election, but to watch an elected official who claims to represent the people in this state baldly pin his hopes for election on suppression of the people’s democratic right to vote has been truly appalling.”

There were countless lawsuits filed against Kemp, who was the secretary of state, which means he oversaw his own election. Even former President Jimmy Carter called on Kemp to resign. He eventually resigned 2 days after the election, but many people felt it was too late and his voter suppression tactics had already done serious damage.

Kudos to Jason Weaver for speaking out against corruption in his own party.

This one phrase tells you all you need to know about the impartiality and reliability of what is reported.

1. Working for John McCain is hardly "as Republican as it gets". McCain described himself as a "maverick" within the party, and certainly earned the label at times.

2. Weaver also worked for the Democrats for a period between 2000 and 2008. That's hardly "as Republican as it gets".

3. Weaver's most recent role was in connection with the Kasich presidential primary campaign (where, interestingly, he was quoted as saying the Kasich objective was to knock Jeb Bush out of the race!). He's also worked for Jon Huntsman (who has served in both Republican and Democrat administrations).

In short Weaver is a centrist who could find himself working happily for either party. He isn't even close to being a hard core Republican. The author knew this, but purposefully misrepresented who Weaver is for the purpose of the story.

So, as you describe his credentials he sounds like a fine and balanced representative of the majority of Americans, forced by the limitations of their system to be either a Republican or a Democrat when and if they want access and influence but actually seeing some good on both sides from their own natural position in the centre.

And Weaver's not the one who did anything questionable to take the Governorship of Georgia running a tainted election. But shooting the guys who bring such unwelcome messages is always a popular response.

But this shot missed, Bud.

In matters of opinion, the best argument tactic is to show that the other side actually agrees with you. That's why Weaver was presented as a hard core Republican. However, when it turns out that person isn't the enemy, their opinion just reverts back to being no more persuasive than one opinion of many.
