Wow. From the video it looks like there must have been some failure or she completely missed her braking point. Her car was going way faster than the leading cars. Wonder if her injuries would have been reduced if F3 adopted the Halo..

At the speed she was travelling my guess would be her tires touch another cars tires and her car got airborne. Much like the death at the Toronto indy many years ago. Go to the 1:10 minute mark.

Luckily she hit a "soft" barrier, from the slo mo replay it appears that the she hit that soft barrier with the top of the car, if it was a concrete barrier, she would have "Greg Moor-ed"

Wow! and she's a hottie too!

Gille Villeneuve's death crash was also horrific, as you can see his body go flying across the track and land into a fence.

Go to 1:07 min. mark

I don't think women should compete against men in any sport as their bodies and reflexes differ so much, just the way we are built. These women get into these sports and are mostly viewed as just token women, much like Danica patrick was, who was never close to competitive.

I saw Villeneuve live when he was still racing Formula Atlantic. Raw talent. I remember an interview after he won a race in wet low temps and he said that he used an old snowmobile racing trick of putting a flap of duct tape on his upper lip so that his breath didn’t fog his visor. Anybody remember his F1 race in Monaco when his front wing got bent up, obscuring his front view? He continued without slowing by glancing around it in corners and eventually it broke off. He got criticized for that. No wonder Enzo loved the guy - he drove with 100% talent, passion and balls.

For horrific crashes - Gordon Smiley’s comes to mind and Tom Pryce’s. I still can’t watch.

Edit: Senior moment - Villeneuve drove with the bent wing at the Canadian Grand Prix not Monaco (I guess I always associate his driving with Monaco)... here’s a video of his Canadian GP bent wing race where he finished on the podium. When he was told that he would have been blacked flagged, he replied: “how was I supposed to see the black flag?”

I was going to mention curling and I wonder why they have never tried tournaments this way. Darts and pool also. But any physical sports should be kept separate imo. I think they have a new all womens racing circuit now. Women cant compete at top levels of any physical sport, simply not possible physically.

In motor sports there is one woman who made a definite mark - Michele Moutin who won Pike’s Peak driving an Audi. At that time Audi was known in North America more as a division of VW, making bland stuff like the “Audi Fox”. After Moutin’s win, Audi morphed into more of a motor sports oriented brand with AWD as standard.

But it’s rare for a woman to compete equally against men in any sport. I’m thinking maybe free diving or competitive spear fishing? In the future have mixed Synchronized swimming? LOL. Or have men’s gymnastics with a beam. Ouch!

Somewhat close but the men can do things better simply due to brute strength - Throw heavy weight and sweep harder. If you watch enough curling you will see that this is evident.

My first reaction would be tennis, but it is because I never watch it and it looks easy. However I am sure that the men can hit the ball faster due to strength (I could be wrong though). Not too sure about agility.

Guan Yu Zhou, who was in the car directly behind Floersch is quoted as saying Jehan Daruvala braked early (as a result of a yellow caution suddenly coming on ), as a result Floersch attempted to avoid him, clipped a rail and collided with his car, before being forced into Sho Tsuboi's car and being flung into the air.

This is laughable. You think tennis is easy. Sure go pick up a racket and beat up on Serena

Serena wouldn't have a chance with probably the top 100 men at least. She may have power but so do men. Men have speed as well.

Try outside the top 200:

From wikipedia:

1998: Karsten Braasch vs. the Williams sisters[edit]
Another event dubbed a "Battle of the Sexes" took place during the 1998 Australian Open[52] between Karsten Braasch and the Williams sisters. Venus and Serena Williams had claimed that they could beat any male player ranked outside the world's top 200, so Braasch, then ranked 203rd, challenged them both. Braasch was described by one journalist as "a man whose training regime centered around a pack of cigarettes and more than a couple bottles of ice cold lager".[53][52] The matches took place on court number 12 in Melbourne Park,[54] after Braasch had finished a round of golf and two shandies. He first took on Serena and after leading 5–0, beat her 6–1. Venus then walked on court and again Braasch was victorious, this time winning 6–2.[55] Braasch said afterwards, "500 and above, no chance". He added that he had played like someone ranked 600th in order to keep the game "fun".[56] Braasch said the big difference was that men can chase down shots much easier, and that men put spin on the ball that the women can't handle. The Williams sisters adjusted their claim to beating men outside the top 350.[52]
