Quenville. Can't help but think Babcock under achieved in the playoffs with what he had in Detroit.

Current Leaf coach Mike Babcock has a few more years at many $millions per season on his contract, so I wouldn't be counting on the Leafs making any changes soon.

Have no idea if ex-Hawks coach Joel Quenville will go anywhere else this season as he likely gets paid whether he coaches or not. But, I'm sure he will get offers either some time in this season or when this season is over. TSN will have all the details if and when anything happens.

Carlyle also has a history with Leafs so that has no relevance.

Babcock salary: A.A.V. of $6.25Mm, his deal was frontloaded, as I recall, $8Mm/each of 1st 3 years. There's an "Out" after 5 seasons.

Coach Q gets paid for this season and next by the Blackhawks if he doesn't take another position.

That was quite the coup for Babcock - he had previously been contracted for $2 million per season when the Leafs offered him their record deal of $50 million over 8 years.
It pays to be in tight with the Leafs president.

that was a gift. no coach is worth 50 million. If not for Tavaras he would have been paid more than anyone playing and that cannot be right.

The Leafs conduct themselves as a big market club.

I guess that's why the Leafs have been so successful then.
The Stanley Cup winners last year were paying their coach $1.5 million, but they must use a different valuation model that I'm sure doesn't work as well.

Under the current regime they seem to be improving each year. Don't you think?

He'll end up in Edmonton, I think mcclelland is game by game now. Might be the same scenario as montreal as they fired the guy who i forget to hire julien when he became available, but I don't think teams will go over 4 mil for coaches anymore.

Here is my prediction, mcclelland gets fired, quennevelle can't resist the urge to coach macdaddy and takes the job, partly to try and beat the hawks at some point. I think he's tight with the edmonton prezzy nicholson I believe.

If they lose tonight I think mclelland is gone. But how many coaches are they still paying from being fired. I think Katz has had enough, seems like a real patient owner. Wouldn't be surprised to see the GM gone as well.

Todd McLellan is in his 4th year as Oilers H.C. I dare say he's the only head coach on the payroll.
There may be an assistant coach fired after last year that had a 2 year deal, but that would be inconsequential money, & unlikely.
Chiarelli has only been G.M. for 3+ seasons (and holy crap, he's set the organization back, in that time), I suspect he's got this season and next to make progress before he's looked at seriously as a termination candidate.

Hire Mark Hunter as Assistant GM to be groomed for GM when Chiarelli gets fired

Gotta sign Quennville
