Early prediction is 2019 is a repeat of 2018.

Some other difficult predictions:

* Tulo gets injured
* Martin's batting average equals his weight
* Sanchez misses a bunch of starts
* I make a completely stupid and pointless post

Some bizarre predictions:

* Morales has a season ending injury and they bring back Bautista to DH
* On a planned player celebration evening that same player gets charged for beating the shit out of his girlfriend (as if that would ever happen!)
* Giles continues his perfect save streak
* Montoyo hires John Rocker as a first base coach. Once it is discovered he is an active member of an extreme alt right group the 2019 Blue Jays thread is moved to politics section where it is inundated with Trump trash talk
* I go the whole year without making a stupid and senseless post in the 2019 Blue Jays thread

Scott Boras' take on Blue Jays attendance

It actually sounds similar to what another prominent TERB poster has been ranting about.

Agent Scott Boras criticizes Blue Jays attendance at GM meetings

Famed agent Scott Boras criticized the Toronto Blue Jays at the MLB general managers’ meetings Wednesday, blaming the team’s roster construction for its significant dip in attendance this season.
Boras told reporters in his annual media session that Toronto is suffering from “the Blue flu” that has resulted in a decline in fan attendance at games.
“Toronto is a wonderful city, it’s been a great franchise, they’ve drawn three million fans,” Boras said. “They’ve lost near a third of their fan base due to the ‘Blue Flu’ of not bringing attractive players that their fans find interesting to their market.”

The Blue Jays, who finished the season fourth in the AL East with a 73-89 record, had a total attendance of 2,325,281 in 2018, down 878,605 from the year before.

Boras, who represents three Blue Jays players — right-hander Aaron Sanchez, shorstop Troy Tulowitzki and outfielder Billy McKinney — also took aim at the Miami Marlins.

Miami had an average attendance of 10,014 per game saw their attendance drop 771,910 last season.
“The fans of Florida have certainly brought the MIA to Miami,” he said.

They don't have to buy an instant winner. But at least give us a tease. Show us you give a shit about the fans. Give us something to cheer for.

BTW, in general I think Scott Boras is an ass.

I think Martin is long gone by next season. Given his smarts and Canuck-ness, I think he gets a talent scout / goodwill ambassador gig and some grooming for coach and manager positions.

I hope tf that Tulo is gone, even if it's a buyout. Tulo has contributed sweet dick since coming to Toronto and I would far rather see them develop Gurriel at the position.

I think that they should deal Morales for what they can get for him. He's not getting younger and last season was only a little better than average for a full time DH. Even if Tellez isn't proven after only a few weeks at the Show, he's worth developing and that means ML playing time.

I think JBats gets special consideration as Toronto's goodwill ambassador to Texas.....

Jays management has shown strong interest in the ability to sell tickets in the present with no regard to future so I predict they will get several free agents, on the low end salary ,to have the pretense of making WC. And that makes total sense to me. They will make the cost of the FAs back and then some if things work out
If things do not work out then they can trade whatever FA has a good year. The most valuable property to trade to a contender is pitching so the Jays may sign some FA pitchers

PCL is a huge hitters league
This isn’t great, but the big picture here is the rule 5 draft next week and who to protect and who not to protect, who is eligible and who is not.
The glut of infielders we have was suppose to be traded for pitchers.
This deal—I understand

Actually, his won/loss record is OK, but ERA and WHIP are mediocre and have worsened as he's moved up through the minors
Wait a second, werent you the guy who in the past always argued that win/loss records dont mean anything for starting pitchers??
Or do I have the wrong guy??

He's 25 years of age, so he's not old but he's not exactly young either. Maybe Jays brass have sen something in him, thats always possible.
But looking at the surface it doesnt look like a good trade IMO. Diaz is only 25, has a bright future ahead of him. He fields well, he's got some pop and he can hit a bit for average. I get the part that our infield is stacked, but at least trade him for a promising minor leaguer

I'm a little surprised that Diaz was dealt, but not Solarte. Diaz seemed to have the inside track. OTOH, it's a major rebuild w Gurriel, VG Jr and Bichette. So they may be trying to deal their entire IF.

Al Diaz was our most underrated player...never embarrassed himself, decent pop in bat.....should have kept him until we know for sure that Bone spurs can play and until Vlad is brought up

Al Diaz was our most underrated player..
Which, when you think of it, is a pretty low bar.

He's a decent player, but is he the kind of guy to take them to the next level? This is shapeero V.4, 2018 edition. More rebuild. More salary dump. Less interest.Less talent. Less attendance. What dif does it make if Diaz is gone or not.

Sure, but at least get a better pitcher for him then some minor league guy with a 4.23 ERA, please????!!!

Or is that too much to ask??
