Another amazing move by the Blue Jays organization.

I think we're going places
I think every organization has multiple experiences like that, The draft is a crap shoot, especially in BB. Even if it was shapeero drafting, I wouldn't bash him, unless it kept happening with some frequency.

I posted the Pentecost comment for those who worship at the A.A. altar.
A.A. made as many mistakes (or more) than he did good moves.
Let's not build a statue of a guy who left the organization with an aging (the oldest in MLB) roster, and a farm system (cupboard) less than full of prospects.
To be fair, there were a few prospects left, including VGJr.
The new administration, headed by Mark Shapiro (not Shapeero) has done a good job rebuilding the system, fans will see the start of the youth movement this season, with more young players arriving in 2020 & 2021.

Agree that having a good supply of young players is a positive. However, just because you have them does not necessarily mean that they will perform at the level needed to produce a contending team. There may (or may not) be more Pentecosts on the farm.

Time will tell if they have young players or young players who can perform at the major league level. Personally, I don't know the answer as it pertains to Toronto and I am not making any speculations one way or the other.

I have a funny feeling that Lourdes Gurriel Jr may end up having a better career than Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Lourdes is 5 1/2 years older than Vladimir, he should be way ahead of him for now.....

The Toronto Blue Jays trade Kendrys Morales and cash considerations to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor league infielder Jesus Lopez and international signing bonus pool space

The trade is good for the Jays, Kendrys Morales was a liability, he cannot run, he cannot play first base and he strikes out too much.

What was his value as a mentor to the younger players, in particular the Latinos? A veteran player can do things for a team besides play. I will concede his best playing days were behind him, I just don't see enough veteran presence on this team to help youngsters mature and develop.
A lot of high priced veterans have been released or traded but Jays are still on the hook for their salaries. One would have to assume this is part of the Shapiro 5 year plan.

I heard Shi Davidi talking about how it opens up the DH spot for someone like Teoscar Hernendez, but never mentioned anything about Rowdy Tellez. Thought because he had a good October last year, and a good spring training they were going to give him a look.

I think the plan is to go with Smoak for part of the season, maybe up until the trade deadline, hopefully he will produce, and then trade him and open up the spot for Tellez.

Rowdy Tellez is a classic example of how the grieving process can be all consuming. He lost his mother in September of 17 and lost his game. He's fully recovered now and will make an impact. Stro just stuck out the side.

This opening season is a bit unusual, there's been a spike in child births. It's the product of a singularity that occurred last May:

For fuck sakes, Stroman finally throws a gem and we have to run into a Zimmerman no-hitter (7th inning) :yell:

Don't ask me why but I have this feeling that Jose Bautista will return to the Jays in some capacity after he retires from active service.

On the broadcast today they mentioned that Marcus Stroman got a tattoo of the Toronto skyline on his midsection. Kind of cool for an American to do that.
