Freddy Galvis claimed off waivers by Cincinnati.
Jays management is confusing, Freddy Galvis is a decent player, and they got nothing for him. If they were going to give him away for nothing, why didn't they trade him at the trade deadline for at least some minor league player.

once again Shapkins is one of the worst front office in baseball...………...the Jays have no bench, basically, but are willing to let Galvis go for absolutely nothing...……...and their customer service skills are deplorable...…..on a premium.date with the Yankees on a Sunday home game they sit Vladdy…………...they totally lack any respect for the paying customer by not indicating to them their thought process in sitting Vlad...…… there is a day off this week and they go on the road...…….sit him then...……….for gawdsakes get rid of this front office

I’m going to vomit. This administration is beyond comprehension.

That might be your definition of a big market team, but its not everyone's definition of one.
Let's all agree that the Jays are a team that play in a very big market.

Call it whatever you like.

They wouldn't haven't got much for Galvis. Getting rid of the rest of his salary is a wash.

Its a salary dump, plus a way to free up the amount of infield play Biggio and Bo will get.

Its actually not a bad move

It doesnt matter Philip, our win/loss column is irrelevant, all that matters is giving the rookies as many AB's as you can.
Waiving Galvis was actually a smart move (at this point in the season)

This was inevitably going to happen as they had nothing left in the farm system. AA was never going to be given the budget your dreaming of so there was going to be hard years no matter what.

AA gets blamed for trading away assets, but at least he got something for them and created a competitive team. These guys gave away assets and got squat back. I have no problems trading away players at the deadline but these weren't trades, they were fleecing. Hope the pitchers they are suppose to be getting from the Rays are breathing!
The current edition of the Blue Jays has so much potential, but, I fear, these clowns will mess it up.

You had better not complain about this one or I'm revoking your man-card and putting you in a Terb holding cell

Galvis was not part of the BJ's future... certainly not now that the B and G's have been proving their talents and value.

Actually, what Shatkins did was a pretty nice favor for Freddy...

And I suspect they will be giving Smoak a chance to become their DH. At least until they become contenders. He has the hitting skills and power. A SH to boot. It would be a great experiment! Could he hack it?

Does anyone know? Has there ever been a SH DH? I could not find one...

I like how the team is Shapiroing up! :yo:

And how they have been playing over the past several weeks. .500 ball since the beginning of July. And they have been hitting. With power. The pitching lost a lot of games.

All of a sudden, they seem ahead of schedule on the rebuild... maybe Shatkins knew/know something about their assets that we don't? :beguiled:

They have a lot of pitching potential in the minors. They need experience. And sooner rather than later, experienced talent coming off the DL. Could they become competitive next year if they spend for 2 or 3 meaningful additions to the pitching staff?

I did not say make it to the post season, but competing for it...

BBL; Players are assets. Galvis is a player and a decent piece for some team, they sent him to Cinci and in return they received???? They sent Stroman to the Mets and the return looks suspect, they sent 3 players 2 of which were roster pitchers, to the Astros and got Fisher in return. What did they get for Donaldson? and he isn't doing too bad in Atalanta. Pillar, basically no return and he has a new high in RBI's and is better defensively than pretty much any outfielder currently on the Jays active roster.
That is off the top of my head, I am sure there is more if I wanted to research it.

What did they get for Happ? Sogaard? We lost on the Osuna for Giles trade. Edwin is in the same category as Donaldson. They might have been able to do a sign and trade with both.

All water under the bridge. They have an exciting core, but that is only 4 players.
