How is the rainbow flag accepting of me when it doesnt have a "S" for straight in its abbreviation? Isnt that seclusion? Privileged? How can I be privileged when as a straight male am not allowed to fly a flag? I feel very segregated because im not allowed to have an opinion in this town. Kinda makes me feel like a slave or minority. I think thats what these fags have fought for and now we should do the same!

We should have killed off these fags long ago!

Hope every straight accepting liberal is happy now!

The world needs to do a do-over.

This threads illustrates how stupid most members are and the general IQ on here. The op said nothing about white privilege yet it turned into a white privilege arguement, where's my advil??

I think for Mr. Hamilton, I will guess the uneducated part.

Anybody who feels a need to fly a flag to tell the world or celebrate that they're "straight" probably isn't. At the risk of sounding homophobic - it's kind of a gay thing to do. After all the idea of a "gay flag" was as a means of coming out of the shadows and to announce to the world that they be accepted without having to hide their preference. For a so called "straight" to do this - they must have issues where they're not really sure their actions were enough to fit in with their mainstream lifestyle. Conclusion: I believe that the person who flew this flag is likely still in the closet and fighting his/her own self-loathing. Otherwise they wouldn't have bothered and would have just carried on with their main stream life without worrying about it.

The whole OP is about white privilege!

The queers want the straight flag REMOVED because straight rights are privileged. Straights were given everything. Read the article. Queers dont have room for straight privileged people flying their "Hateful" straight flag.

"Kennedy said the incident in Chipman highlights the importance of educating the public about the realities faced by many LGBTQ people in Canada, such as lack of access to health care, housing and employment, was well as high incidents of homelessness.'

Sounds like they werent privileged to me?

WOW! Didn't think my post would go so far off course.

Got some good laughs out of some of the comments.

There's little doubt that flying the gay flag means "I support gays' right to equality". There's even less doubt that flying the straight flag means "I support upstart queers having no rights."

Why not have a combined flag? -- on the left gay stripes, on the right straight stripes, for example. That would celebrate the notion (for those that agree with it) that both sides see the other as having equal rights.

I just speak the truth, the 'your' part in my posts illustrates the uneducated part, thanks for the proof. It's not just you, people in general are stupid.

Privilege is intersectional.

Just because you are poor does not negate the privilege you had of being white, being male, being heterosexual, being education, being able-bodied.

The list can go on and on.

How could you say this from anyone? Not everyone born with gold spoon in their mouth and be a pampered "educated" boy as you. You didn't know anything about their circumstances, so don't call his parents, lazy or stupid. Maybe they worked 10 times more in their life , than you will ever. My grandpa died in silicosis in Europe, because he was a coal mineworker for 30 years. Believe it or not, many "uneducated" people do hard physical jobs. If they don't, you will be frozen in your fucking armchair in wintertime. Don't be an asshole, just because a stork dropped you in the right place. It's not your credit. You were just lucky!!
Actually I'm definitely lazy, and quite stupid despite a decent education. I am not successful. However I'm white, and I realize that things would be much worse if I wasn't. Sorry about your Grandpa, but seriously what kind of fucking argument is that.

I always laugh when I hear about white privilege. I grew up in Beasley in Hamilton. My parents despite both working could barely put food on the table when I was a kid and my old man died at 54 from silicosis! Some ducking privilege!
Maybe they were just lazy, uneducated and/or stupid. Good thing you weren't black or you'd really have a rough ride.

She was telling you, bumblebrain, that what you said was horrible. Just because someone was a miner and suffered premature death from silicosis doesn't mean he was lazy, uneducated, and/or stupid.
In fact, her Grandpa, was man enough to overcome his circumstances and to raise his kids to the point where they could have kids of their own (his Iris is the proof of this achievement).
So it's highly unlikely that he was lazy and/or stupid -- even if he was uneducated (which was outside his control.)

Her perfectly valid argument, which I agree with, is that if you think it's ok to call people you don't know lazy and stupid, you must have something missing. Especially people who, despite adversity, made it as grandparents.

Maybe you're like a chimpanzee. They too are missing the key human ability to imagine themself living someone else's life.

I don't feel the need for a flag for being straight. Straight people are not and have never been at a disadvantage and have never been persecuted.

Flying that flag is obviously just a mean-spirited slight against gay people.

As as aside: There is rampant homophobia on this board. In another thread, people were claiming that two hard cocks in a single ass was somehow gay.

No, the probability of him being lazy/stupid is exactly the same as any other person.

Anyway yes, what I said was nasty and out of order, and I apologize.

This was clearly a slight on the lgbt community. There is no such thing as straight pride as we make up over 90% of the population. There is a straight ally flag they could have flow which shows support for both, they chose not to. They are redneck Neanderthals.
I mean, there shouldn't be any gay pride either. Sexual orientation isn't something you choose...so why be proud of it?

Because for generations they were told to be ashamed of it, as is still the case in most of the world. I see it largely as a non-issue so long as the parades are respectable.

Clearly, you base that judgment on your personal experience in the biz.
Yes, in fact I do. Most of my early, and a good chunk of my current, professional experience was/is in fashion design and retail. Gay people tend to want to hire other gay people, women tend to want to hire other women. No big surprise there, human nature is human nature.

My observation is that my gay clients feel more strongly that hiring other gays is "making a statement", while the female execs I've worked with seem to do it less consciously. The biggest difference is that the females joke about it more :)

As a straight man you can't openly object, you'd be blackballed. That's life.
